Has anyone else had a spurious “Thanks for your request to cancel your Amazon account” notification? When you’ve got a unique password and 2FA set up, it’s hard to see how a request to delete could be raised. Could a rogue center operator at Amazon generate that request?

kentindell,
@kentindell@mastodon.social avatar

Also: Amazon account deletion nukes history, invoices, gift cards, music, e-books, audiobook purchases, everything. And there’s no ability to cancel an account deletion request: replying to the email confirms the request!

So impressed with the progress of the ESP32 open source Wi-Fi MAC efforts: https://zeus.ugent.be/blog/23-24/esp32-reverse-engineering-continued/

Had similar long term ambitions on ESP8266 when I started esp-open-rtos a decade ago, but ended up being hired by Espressif instead. 😅

From inside we always had theoretical support for open sourcing more of the WiFi stack, but it was never going to become a priority unless some high tier client demanded it...

I look forward to seeing where this effort lands!

@projectgus If the Australian government is anything like the British regime it’s probably using “Wi-Fi” as a synonym for “internet”.

I am deeply regretting that for my political satire series I went with a head of government who is merely a faceless Lovecraftian Elder God with a skull-collecting hobby.

He seems kind of understated these days.

Should have picked a cross between the South Dakota Puppy Shooter and Liz Truss instead ...

@cstross @sellathechemist Oh there’s definitely something eldritch about Truss.

I thought 'Oh, a silly grammar cock-up that makes for a fun local news story'. Then I read the first line. I won't spoil the surprise but maybe make sure there's no-one close when you yell 'OH FOR FU...'

Good morning and happy Monday #Fediverse

It's an early start to the day due to excitement on my behalf, so let's all discuss what the first day of the week has in store for us as well as the week ahead.

For me, it's some work stuff(more in a post coming up shortly), followed by more work stuff.

Video games tonight with family friends like we do each Monday and then just relaxing and enjoying the evening!

@JensHannemann @cliffwade There’s a great little project where someone made a regular Pico into a Sigrok-compatible logic analyzer (that talks to the host PC over USB). That’s not just the cheapest logic analyzer but also runs at 130MHz on all channels!

    As you contemplate going home for the holidays, especially if you have any vocal MAGA relations, remember this coping strategy: Hear everything they say for what it is: from a brainwashed cult of millions who have been misled and manipulated. Do not attempt to deprogram, or you become just another enemy. Listen with patience, and try to find common things you both enjoy to talk about. Remind them of your humanity, and do things that let them remind you of theirs. That is how love ultimately prevails.

    kentindell,
    @kentindell@mastodon.social avatar

    Never a good start to the day when your slow acting insulin decides it will not be slow, and drops your blood sugar to 2 in ten minutes flat.
    It is a good job I had not gone for my morning walk straight away as I’d be collapsed somewhere in Castle Meadows now.
    All good now, but it will mess up my levels all day I bet.
    Rare, but it has happened a couple of times before. My diabetic clinic did not seem to know of it being a thing. Anyone else had this? Ordinary glargine insulin.

    kentindell,

    The capsules that provide life support for people traveling into space and have to be absolutely reliable.

    The user interface that controls an explosion.

    Hmmm. So I've got some Eightree smart plugs. They support power on/off and power usage monitoring. Good. I got them free. Even better.

    I managed to get HACS installed on HA. I managed to get LocalTuya installed in HACS. I managed to do get a LocalTuya integration. It managed to SEE my test smartplug; IP and MAC! Wow, so close now.

    Now it wants the device's "localkey". I cannot get this unless I first sign the device up to the cloud, then un-sign it up. Somehow this will reveal it to me.
