Internet friends who use MongoDB: While I've used MongoDB on various projects, many of my opinions are based on using it in the mid-to-late 2010’s, and given it’s the 2020's and MongoDB is a larger, and presumably more mature company, I figure it would publish software with more sane defaults now.

If you've seen a good piece that basically says “we're grown up now, and these are the things people used to complain about that we've fixed”, would you share a link?

macOS is straight up rotting. It is absolutely nuts that this FileVault key re-generation thing has just gone unaddressed for a year. This isn't about Apple News being a joke or drag and drop not working anywhere anymore. This is a potentially catastrophic data-loss bug that Apple has just decided is the new normal and just does not give one single shit about.

Visibly struggling to get up the stairs to the plane (eff hard stands). Amazing how helpful people can be when you say (truthfully) by way of explanation, “I was hit by a car yesterday.”

Comically slowly, with only sore knees and skinned palms to show for said encounter, but I’m definitely not at the “I walked 5km today” levels of activity from several days ago.

Also it feels like everyone else is keeping up, but they're not.

I think we're all keeping up with different pockets of stuff while letting others slide, and when I consider everyone that isn't me - yes between them they've totally kept up with more stuff than me!

What is great about this web dev community though is the sharing. We can't read all the things, but as long as we all keep communicating, we'll be alright :)
