I suspect, if the internet were built today, the only way society could envision it would be as a private enterprise undertaking. The result would be a bunch of competing walled gardens with designs more focused on extracting value for shareholders than on actually providing a useful social function.

Corporations won't build the future we need. A society that leaves innovation to them is only going to get the shitty version, designed to route more power to rich assholes.

So, no surprise to anyone, but #DigitalOcean’s #Sammy #AI assistant gives incorrect information about their services.

It told me that it’s possible to move a volume to a different region by first creating a snapshot of the volume and then creating it as a new volume in the other region. This is apparently incorrect. No big loss for me, but I can’t imagine trusting that service with any other data/storage-related questions.

What is the closest thing to https://www.alfredapp.com with similar attention to detail with regards to stellar UX and the like?

I value my time, and don't mind paying for stuff - I'd totally buy into something like https://setapp.com for Linux apps if it existed. I haven't found anything similar yet though.
