Watched ep2 of the new Doctor Who season. Not sure if I want to continue. It was utterly stupid. Is this what happens when Disney gets involved? A bunch of exposition loosely strung together into a ridiculous story.
This is in no way a reflection on Ncuti Gatwa, who I think is brilliant and loved in Sex Education.
In the history of #DrWho there have been very good and very bad. Who can even remember the dark times corny, cheap production before the Chris Ecclestone revival? Dr Who E02 tonight was a first. Did not make it through the episode. E01 was absolutely dire but at least we watched it all. Unfair to expect actors to carry scripts this awful. Feel very sorry for them. They trouped on bravely. 🫡
Ok so that’s how to stick it to all the world’s religions. So much for diversity & respect for all. #DrWho
Better ep than the previous 2 but definitely pandering to the non-British audience who don’t know the back story. Love the Dr & Ruby but the storylines are terrible
Just watched the first episode in the 2nd season of Jodie Whittaker's #DrWho. That episode was a godawful mess. Does the season get better, or should I cut my losses and skip ahead to Ncuti Gatwa?
At the start I thought this was a refreshing revamp of a beloved formula that was staying try to its essentials.
Lots to like in the first few minutes. But apparently it's now a way to force it into other tired, long exhausted formulas that assail us with discord.
Sod it, I'm going to watch #Eurovision Song Contest: the Story of Fire Saga as my alternative comfort watch tonight. Please #jajaDingDong if you're doing the same!
But first, new #DrWho in an hour.
I don't really watch Dr Who, but this was mildly interesting.
"The hefty price tag attached to the use of the [Beatles' discography] means that most productions opt not to use them at all. Speaking with Empire, Doctor Who showrunner Rusell T Davies stated that this issue is what inspired the story behind "The Devil's Chord" in the first place."
The fantastic Norton Disney dodecahedron intrigues everyone. There are other complete examples, e.g., this one from Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt.
We still don't know what those mysterious devices were used for. Any suggestions?
@ninawillburger They are time artefacts of #DrWho. Look at these remaining balls! It was a horrible time when the Celts invented their #dodecahedron time changer games, and a Roman soldier forgot to close the teleportation gate. The #Daleks materialised and stole the inner material to build their sense globes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSLQH1gKocs
Since then, a certain Gallic village (the game inventor lived there) was angry at all Romans until Dr Who will return and bring back the sense globes!
On May 10, Ncuti Gatwa starts his first full season as the Doctor — the first Black and first openly queer man to take on the role. Entertainment Weekly talked to him about the responsibility he feels to get things right. “I was really cautious about getting it right throughout filming,” the Rwandan-Scottish actor explains. “It’s 60 years’ worth of legacy and 60 years’ worth of a show that people have loved and watched with their families. It lives in people’s hearts, so I really wanted to protect that.”
Doctor Who Series 14 Episode 3 Review: Boom (www.denofgeek.com)
Simple, audacious, exhilarating, with excellent lead performances. Steven Moffat, and Doctor Who, are back. SPOILERS
