Working within the constraints of design systems has all but eliminated typography discussion among product designers, just as it did the need for front-end development skills. Continuing to learn about both helps us stay "broken comb-shaped" generalists, allowing us to speak the language of our brand and engineering partners.

Also, I still wish we had native quote posting on Mastodon. When I shared this on Threads, I included one of @elliotjaystocks educational typography posts.

If you've ever considered building a backyard office shed, @kylelambert's project breakdown is a helpful resource.

While I'm sure most of you are here to escape news about that other network, it's good to stay aware of what's happening. Finally read though @tchambers' 33 page Q3 snapshot, and I highly recommend it, especially because, as the report concludes, "this maelstrom of change is likely to continue".

I'm so tired of teenagers being "the chosen ones" in fiction. please, let a middle-aged woman save the universe! she's seen some shit and dealt with it. she's tired of it all. she doesn't give a fuck. she's angry. she will get this shit done.

jasongraphix,

@reginasbread I see lots of people mentioned Everything, Everywhere, All at Once already which is what first came to mind for me seeing this post, but what about Alien?

Whenever I start to feel too invested in a particular design decision, I like to revisit screenshots of the Windows 3.1 "Hotdog Stand" color scheme.

Still enjoying Threads and Mastodon. The post I just boosted made me laugh, so I was happy to see the OP shared it on Threads. I’ve seen a lot of folks cross-posting, and I know these opinions are unpopular here but…
1.) Threads should hurry up and federate already
2.) Mastodon needs quote posting

@Meyerweb Oh, that's handy! I had no idea.

Does anyone else here have a Onewheel? And if so, does it nosedive when you’re staying pretty much stationary? Maybe more so when you’re staying stationary on an incline?

Not a huge deal but I’d love to know if it’s expected behaviour or whether I should try and get mine serviced.

#onewheel

jasongraphix,

@aral Only if it's such a steep incline that the nose is near the ground. Do you have simple stop turned on? If so, starting to roll backwards could cause it to disengage.

jasongraphix,

@aral Weird. Unless the battery is almost dead, it should have enough juice to roll forward to keep you balanced. You could also try riding in Elevated mode, but I hate riding with the nose raised.

I know it’s but will you please let me enjoy my coffee.

This is the most Akira / Anime thing I've ever seen in real life

Trying to jam this wild machine through this tiny-ass doorway. The cables and hoses, the tank treads. If this isn't a folded-up mech that will transform on the other side I'm going to be so bummed out

jasongraphix,

@cabel They clearly don't want anyone seeing what that mech is up to, but the cable hole looks big enough for a hand and phone to fit through. Just sayin.

It's been a while since I've enjoyed a new album as much as But Here We Are from the Foo Fighters.

All 10 songs really hit, but Nothing At All is my current favorite.

Just discovered the open in new window button at the top of Slack threads. You can open multiple thread windows too. 🔥

The 🔑 to enjoying Mastodon is finding interesting, active accounts to follow and then tuning in to what matters to you.

  1. Start with a familiar foundation by following people you already do on Twitter (manually, thanks Elon 🙄)
  2. Build on that by following their interesting follows: https://followgraph.vercel.app
  3. Your home feed will quickly become a firehose. Use lists to group accounts into buckets by topic, industry, location, etc: https://www.mastodonlistmanager.org
