The other day I was running tests on one of my contrib modules, and got a deprecation warning for a trait in #Drupal core that had been renamed. And my first thought was, 'Who the hell has been farting around renaming damn test traits, and what the hell for?'
Readers, it was me. I'd filed the issue to rename that test trait.
@organicmaps has been HUGELY useful for both planning and while away on holiday. I've downloaded maps of where we were going for offline use, so I can navigate without data or wifi. I've used it to find shops, playparks, restaurants, ice cream, and drinking water. With the bookmark feature I can make lists of useful spots ahead of time. I've filed LOTS of bugs in their issue queue because I'm a nitpicker and a magnet for bugs, but it's because I think it's a fantastic app with huge potential!
Why does an app having an update pending make it run like crap? Anytime #Firefox starts to be slow, it'll be because it's got an update ready to install. Similarly if my mac starts running like crap, it'll be Firefox, #VSCode, or #Slack which have an update. What causes the slowdown?
Using @organicmaps to prepare my holiday itinerary - saving places to a bookmark list, downloading offline maps to my tablet. It's really great -- would be even better if I could order the bookmarks manually.
Controversial #Mastodon opinion - I miss the Algorithm. For instance, I follow the very nice @PersevereImgBot but it's a bit spammy. I'd like it if it didn't appear to much, or only the posts that get traction. What if Mastodon had its own version of the Algorithm? Or more than one, so you could pick your favourite, or indeed, write your own. And all open-source and documented.
#HeatPump tip - download your gas usage data from your supplier BEFORE disconnecting your gas account, as in my case EDF have deleted it, so I can't compare my energy usage before and after the heat pump :(
What's a good #git strategy for developing tests when you need to run them on the feature branch and ALSO the main branch (so you can check they pass/fail respectively). I'm trying to keep two test branches in sync with cherry-picks and it's horribly faffy.
Web developers who make things that generate PDFs, tickets for trains and events for instance - please PLEASE PLEASE make the PDF filename USEFUL. The destination. The venue. My name. Not 'ticket.pdf' or a meaningless string of junk. MAKE IT USEFUL. #UX
In heating systems, why is a small difference between flow and return temperatures good? I would naively have thought a large difference meant that more heat was being released into the house? #HeatPump
New release of #Drupal Code Builder adds selecting of events to subscribe to. And new release of Module Builder has the autocomplete tweaked to treat '.' and '_' as interchangeable, so you no longer need to remember if it's 'entity.type.manager' or 'entity_type.manager' - either will work.
Saw in a bookshop that there's a new edition of Iain M. Banks' books. The spines all form a single motif, which is a nice touch, but also a sad reminder that he's dead and there'll be no more books.
New release of Action Link module lets you put the links directly into field formatters, and the field value updates with AJAX as well as the link. https://www.drupal.org/project/action_link#Drupal
