📆 Next https://www.conferencechats.org call is 24 hours away, and we have a bunch of good topics on the agenda including running online events, working with tourism boards, privacy policies, and several others. If you're interested in organizing conferences, you are free to join and add your topics to this list as well, no experience necessary. See you tomorrow!
I love the strategy that companies take where they do something screwed up, acknowledge that they're "working on fixing it", and then just never actually follow through. I'm sure someone thinks "no one is asking about this anymore, so it must no longer be a problem", but what they've actually done is created apathy among people who used to care and want to see them do better.
It's that time again. The next https://www.conferencechats.org call is 24 hours away. Our January calls were full of wonderful discussion and some new friends. The group is open to anyone interested in organizing conferences, no experience necessary. Find the Discord invite link on the website if you'd like to join.
Recently, when choosing online services to use / subscribe to, I've been more actively seeking out open source options that I could self host which also offer subscription plans for managed services.
@ehmatthes I suppose what I'm asking for here is a step beyond "data portability". Maybe it's easier to make the whole stack portable than it is to worry about how to export and later consume only the data.
Our second https://www.conferencechats.org call for this month is 24 hours from now. This month's Friday call had a wonderful group of attendees, and I'm looking forward to tomorrow's as well. Find more info and the Discord invite link on the website to join the group.

Next Wednesday evening (six days from now) is our last https://www.conferencechats.org group video call of the year. Topics are open to the participants as always. I'm looking forward to hearing what people have in the works for 2024 and discussing how our group can be a bigger resource for conference organizers.

#lazyweb request: is there a good self-hosted product manual app I can run on my home server? I have a bunch of paper manuals for things that don't seem like they're worth hanging onto, and having a searchable collection of digital versions would be nice.
