I play Dungeons and Dragons every week via video chat.

When I started with the group in the Before Times I visually fit in with these bearded middle aged men, but as my transition has proceeded the multi-view has taken on a distinct Sesame Street "One of These Things is Not Like the Others" vibe.

Not gonna lie, I kinda love it. I've become the token girl for these nerds.

Trans fem problem number 17: when you get a new piece of clothing and it suddenly becomes your favorite to the point that you find yourself data mining your own selfies to figure out when you last wore it in front of each particular social group to determine if it’s safe to wear again or if you’re at risk of becoming a cartoon character with a single outfit.

I have been working from home for 15 months now and mostly I love it but occasionally the good hair day and the laundry cycle align and I feel an almost irresistible urge to be perceived.

Deadname never had this problem.

In the years and decades before I came out to myself I spent an inordinate amount of time educating myself on the ins and outs of medical transition. It was utterly fascinating.

That of course was mental sleight of hand to protect me from a reality I wasn’t ready to face, but funnily it left me with this urge to geek out and info-dump on the subject all over anyone who shows the slightest interest now that I’m not hiding.

It’s hard to comprehend that there are people who don’t care about this.

Joy is a funny thing. The photos we post and the stories we tell have capacity to inspire and discourage, to give hope and take it away.

If we are honest with ourselves we know that not every word will find the right ears, not every image the right eyes. Sometimes despite our best intentions our joy will be twisted into another’s pain, rubbing raw wounds which were already there.

It’s still worth it.

Sharing joy does more to help than harm.

Hiding helps no one.

I had a dream last night where a trans woman I follow on Instagram did flawless eye makeup for me.

May need to teach myself eye shadow. The subconscious seems to demand it. 🤔

I left for Disney World last week and it was 55 and sunny. Came back to Wisconsin today and it was 38 with snow on the ground.

Oh, and the sun goes down a full hour earlier here.

Some personal #TransJoy : been working on upping my nail polish game, and so I've been experimenting with nail polish stamps the past few months - and I think I am finally getting the hang of it!

I could never pull off nail art freehand of any sort, but a friend had suggested I try nail stamping where you put polish onto a design on a metal plate, then press the stamp to it transfer the pattern, and then apply the stamp to your nail. It took some practice to get it just right, and getting some stamping-specific polish and well-designed plates has made these really pop I think
