Listening to the The Smiths because I’m emo right now.

keltaeni,

@khalidabuhakmeh I don't think one has to justify listening to The Smiths!

Is anyone using testing (13) already? ;)

I miss seeing updates nearly every day XD

keltaeni,

@RL_Dane I don't think I ever intended on staying on stable. lol. It's still been pretty quiet though.

Can’t sleep (my brain won’t turn off) so I’m running a poll on one of the topics my brain can’t stop thinking about.

How do you buy books/ebooks?

keltaeni,

I think I hit multiple categories depending on the book. I tend to get eBooks cause I'm lazy, physical books because they're better, and library/gutenberg.org when it works out.

**one of these days I'll figure out their, there, and they're on the first try.

We’re at the printer repair shop while they look at our printers.

My mom asked how long people should expect a new printer to last before needing a replacement.

The answer? “Two to three years.”

Printer manufacturers, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

keltaeni,

@benjaminhollon Where are all the Brother printer fanatics? Also I have had a Cannon that mostly works since 2015. That being said I agree this should be the norm and not the exception. Printers manufacturers are awful.

I've found that running
powerprofilesctl set power-saver
really helps keep this 12th Gen i7 portable computing device and finger BBQ cool. Even when plugged in.

keltaeni,

@benjaminhollon Do you use rofi under xwayland or do you use a wayland supported fork? I suppose it could be something different altogether. I'm still trying to find comfort without x.

@grueproof “The best part of waking up, is pills and chronic pain!” That’s how it goes right, or was the jingle about mediocre coffee?

    Hmm,

viewer seems to not like .

Maybe it's a good time to switch to a FOSS solution

    keltaeni,

@RL_Dane If your looking for just a client, have you seen ? https://remmina.org/. It has been my goto when not leaning toward command line.

Is there a gtk file manager out there that has as many features as Krusader?

    keltaeni,

@thelinuxcast Double commander comes to mind https://github.com/doublecmd/doublecmd. And depending what specific features your looking for I’ve been happy with the extensibility of Thunar.

    : Hey peeps:

Is there a way to set up an action/script/whatnot in Dolphin such that you could select some files, then right click and select an item on the menu, and have it prompt for a folder name, create the folder, and then move the files you had selected into the folder?

It's something I didn't realize I was missing from MacOS X* until now.

    *Which I haven't daily-driven in nearly four years ;)

    keltaeni,

@RL_Dane You might be able to do something using custom service menus https://develop.kde.org/docs/apps/dolphin/service-menus/.

Why is it that people's reaction to is either cult-level positive or Ted Cruz-level disgust?

I don't think I've heard more than a single person basically say, "Yeah, Rust is ok, but I like X better because Y." ;)

    keltaeni,

@RL_Dane Those most polarized are often the loudest? I dunno, I feel like many of the folks I work with directly these days are about using the right tool for the job no matter what it is. I feel like there really is too much out there to obstinately try and write everything in the same language.

any advice for an american that wants to switch to 24-hour clock?

    keltaeni,

@RL_Dane @e33io Even if you follow the military advice the solution ended up being the same for me. Just change all your clocks that support it. You'll get used to it pretty quick.

I don't think I have EVER typed the correct command between brew update and brew upgrade first try.

    keltaeni,

@zstix I usually avoid this by just doing brew update && brew upgrade every time. That and zsh auto-suggestions means I don't usually mess it up! My version of this is I tend to nvim when I want to cd....

@brandont They sure beat that horse dead didn't they? I suppose they won't stop till people stop paying to see them.

    keltaeni,

@brandont I really didn't mind them until they all had to be connected in some meaningful on-going story. I suppose I never was the target demographic. I like my movies and shows single-serve. I have enough things to remember about my own life.

    keltaeni,

@brandont @benjaminhollon It honestly tickled a different part for me than the typical super hero movie. It's a fantastic one and one of my kids favorites. Space Dad is my personal hero.
