kembik,

It seems like a delusion of grandeur. A mental illness.

kembik,

Yeah, for some it’s a crutch that helps them through difficult times so it’s not all bad but largely I agree

kembik,

Israel has dehumanized the people of Palestine for a long time. This is not at all surprising. The western world looks the other way for decades to avoid the uncomfortable truth.

kembik,

Unpopular opinion but I think the game is in it’s best state currently. I spent $40 on 2016 and haven’t had to pay a dime since and I’m not playing this PVP game for it’s PVE so this stuff doesn’t matter to me. Blizzard is a husk of its former self and I’m still bitter about HOTS but am actually having a lot of fun playing comp this season.

kembik,

All the Republican candidates, except Christie, want to stay in Trump’s good graces - they know they can’t win if he so much as sneezes at them so they grovel at his feet and just hope he gets disqualified on a technicality.

kembik,

Wouldn’t surprise me if they created this news cycle intentionally to make the point. Upcoming ‘election’ and all.

kembik,

Any one of these streaming services has enough content to kill a victorian-era child.

I’ve never been subscribed to three at once and have never felt there wasn’t enough options for watchably good media. I can’t speak for you but I think a lot of people get caught up in the trending shows and miss out on the back catalogs.

I think streaming is very affordable but only if you have the discipline to be patient about the most popular show this month not being available to you until later when you switch services.

kembik,

10 years ago Dust514 had some stuff going for it but being a console exclusive was the main reason I didn’t put much time into it. They shut it down due to low player count then shortly after announced they were working on a similar shooter for PC called Legion, then later called Nova - seems like this new game is a continuation of that work.

Here is a teaser trailer from 4 years ago for ‘Project Nova’ www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXEo8v6MXGM

Yesterday CCP games had their Eve Online Fanfest where they unveiled Vanguard for the first time youtu.be/bSdm12r1W04?si=qnLjhdbDOvbMod7D&t=25…

kembik,

Eve is a unique game, its incredibly complex and also quite boring most of the time but its a huge sandbox with a lot of different types of gameplay mechanics. When I first started the game myself and several other new players started a corporation and focused on mining and hauling and we ended up growing to about a hundred people at which point some corporations started going to war against us, presumably just for target practice, but we learned how to fight back and it was a really satisfying experience. Later on I joined null sec alliances in big wars, pirate groups leeching off anything that moved in low sec, noob corps mass recruiting and engaging in factional warfare. I haven’t played in more than a decade but I’m always thinking about getting back into it - I love the style and complexity of the game but its hard to get much out of it if you don’t put a lot of time into it.

I think the game is more or less free to play until you get to a certain point with skills. If you give it another go I recommend getting yourself into a corporation where people will show you the ropes and help you explore different aspects of the game.

kembik,

I immediately got a sense of what kind of game it was, works for me.

kembik,

Starfield - I decided to do what some have suggested and just focus on the main story and segue into new-game+

On Saturday morning I did what I would consider the third act of the main story and while the first two acts were a bit dull and too easy I found the opposite in the end. I’m happy with my decision to do this - I didn’t do anything on the first pass that I was upset to leave behind like building complex outposts or ships or getting into any of the faction stuff and now I can dig into the game with the slight bonuses and changes that NG+ provides.

I can see why people are upset with this game, it’s not a big leap forward and the negative points about space mechanics are understandable but none of that is getting in the way of me enjoying this - everyone has different expectations but I see a new Bethesda game as a rare gem in the gaming space. Most big games are a flash in the pan, very exciting for a few months then they go in the bin but ES and Fallout games are more of a slow burn, for me at least, in that I know I will be spending time in this universe for years to come as I explore the base game, expansions, and in the not too distant future I look forward to customizing the game with 100+ mods.

kembik,

My bar for their games is high and its been exceeded. I would be happier if it had every feature I can dream up but if I wanted a game that had an infinite scope and an endless development cycle I’d just pay $10k for a ship in star citizen and hope it releases before I die. Thankfully I’m able to enjoy a game made by one of the most lauded and successful video game developers in the world and not be a curmudgeon about it.

Not trying to be a dick, just seems like everyone else is. Don’t buy it if you need x feature and it isn’t there, maybe they will learn a lesson and make the game you wanted them to next time.

Critics are mostly positive on Starfield, but not unanimous: From 10/10s to 'cold, lifeless, and uninspired' (www.pcgamer.com)

Starfield is here, and after dozens of hours floating in space our reviewer Chris Livingston liked it—but didn't love it. "Starfield is Bethesda's biggest RPG ever, and it shares even more DNA with Skyrim and Fallout 4 than I expected—but it ultimately falls far short of the greatness of both of those games," he wrote in his...

kembik,

A plane crash can make it easier to claim an alive man is dead as there may not be a body.

I could see this as a means to keep Wagner troops loyalties in check, or just to keep everyone guessing. The most likely scenario though is that Putin did what Putin does which is assassination.

I hope in the future we don't have to clean so many things

I know a lot of people have big dreams for the future but personally I just wish we get more things that are self-cleaning. Imagine not having to make the bed. Imagine clothes that you only need to clean once a month. I hate that so much of adult life is spent cleaning over and over again, and that even when you deep clean you...

kembik,

If you don’t like doing dishes and want to live off of nutrient paste

What is up with Baldur's Gate 3?

This is not a criticism - I love how much attention this game has been getting. I’m just not understanding why BG3 has been blowing up so much. It seems like BG3 is getting more attention than all of Larian’s previous games combined (and maybe all of Obsidian’s recent crpgs as well). Traditionally crpgs have not lit the...

[Music News] Beyoncé is selling $157 “listening only” tickets for her Renaissance tour. The seats are behind the stage, so you can’t see the concert, any of the set, or dancing. (finance.yahoo.com)

Summary: “Beyoncé is selling “listening only” tickets for her Renaissance tour. The seats are behind the stage, so you can’t see any of the set or dancing, but they only cost $157 compared to the ~$900 fans have been paying for regular US tickets.”...

kembik,

Beyoncé really thinks she’s better than Taylor?

Why not? Her fans do. You say it like its something that can be true, that one artist’s art is objectively better than another’s. I think they both make uninspired boring music personally. In either case they are both very popular and sell out shows wherever they go.

kembik,

Skyblivion is going to get right to the finish line then get shut down isn’t it?

kembik,

Big fan of Wisp. I know more recently he was making music under the name Dwaallicht www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwC6aD0WK1A

I found a bunch of his early stuff that was released for free in the early 2000s on archive.org, less polished but great.

kembik,

As someone who designs software you are vastly overestimating users, they wake up with their shoes tied together and spill hot coffee on their lap before they even get to the website.

kembik,

Writing in the Times of London in 1894, one writer estimated that in 50 years every street in London would be buried under nine feet of manure. Moreover, all these horses had to be stabled, which used up ever-larger areas of increasingly valuable land. And as the number of horses grew, ever-more land had to be devoted to producing hay to feed them (rather than producing food for people), and this had to be brought into cities and distributed—by horse-drawn vehicles. It seemed that urban civilization was doomed.

While the situation is dire, some solutions we don't see yet may come forward still.

This interview with James Cameron is pretty good, talks about the design issues in detail.

kembik,

I'm not following the story closely but my assumption is that some artist on the team saw the original and pitched it as their own original idea. If it were something like that then the company shouldn't be judged for allowing it to happen but how they respond when finding out about it.

Is FF16 really linear like FF7 Remake was? What is the structure of the game?

I've seen footage of wide open areas in the game, but I don't know if that footage is misleading or not. The game has a menu-based map, so does that mean each area is small and linear like the bog section in the demo? Or are you able to explore and find new areas on your own? How does the structure of the game compare to the...

kembik,

Of what you've seen so far, what % of your time with the game is gameplay vs story/cutscene?
