Buying dice as retail therapy because I forgot I just bought dice for retail therapy yesterday

kirasha,

@bedirthan It's just an extended therapy session. Like a weekend retreat. 😉

The post you never want to write.

My sweet little niece was diagnosed w/ Acute Lymphoblastic (ALL) last week. Prognosis is good. But, it's still early days and her parents are taking a financial hit to stay home with her on top of treatment costs.

A friend of the family started this Go Fund Me for them, if any of you would be so kind as to this. I know money's tight for a lot of people, but the exposure will help.

Tabletop gamerdom is, historically, largely defined by bespoke, hand-crafted folk art remixes of prior material, all the way back to Wesely, Arneson, and Gygax.

Trying to figure how the widespread, strong reactions both in favor of and against AI, which is industrialized machine remix, are entangling with subcultural values on that topic is odd.

It feels like they should connect all over the place, but aren't, that much? Like, there's compartmentalization or something on that score?

kirasha,

@LeviKornelsen @jburneko

i would wager to guess that a lot of the people you see making those arguments are not fully aware of how things like 'fair use' apply to copyright, either. It's a very murky area of law, both copyright in general and the fair use clause, that a lot of people don't understand how they play together. So, the general basic assumption becomes 'using other people's work in any way is bad', even when it isn't.

A review of one of my modules complained, or maybe just stated, that I ruined the mystery by saying out right there was a plot going on and by who in the description.

I'd rather they know and be excited to read and run it rather than have some mystery in reading the module for the GM. It's a mystery module meant for the players to investigate, not the GM. The review said this made the product GM focused and not for players. I'm okay with that. 1/2

kirasha,

@LindseyBonnette I don't see where your description is that different from the blurbs on the back of several mystery novels I've read. Knowing a few details doesn't mean knowing the full plot.

My general feeling for modules is that the blurbs are for the GM to decide if they want to run it. It's then up to the GM to pitch it to their players in a way that gets them interested in playing it. 🤷‍♀️

Not sure what's broken on my wordpress blog.

  1. I entered the fediverse, got my identifier: @esoteric@esoteric-renaissance.com
  2. I tried to follow my site to see how it's showed up...and it doesn't look like I can do that?

It looks like it sent a follow request instead of straight up letting me follow it. (Not sure where I'd approve a request). It says there are 6 posts, but there are only 3 on my site since I just rebooted it. Unless it's counting pages as well as posts?

🤔

kirasha,

@bedirthan @esoteric@esoteric-renaissance.com

Good to know. Maybe I'll just give it a day then and see what happens. Thank you!

tip: What choices can the characters make in any given scene?

kirasha,

@bedirthan @slyflourish

Our Druid would absolutely adopt the monster because she is building her own menagerie.

Our Cleric would absolutely go shopping because he's rich and spoiled and stops to shop everywhere.

Our Rogue/Warlock would be starting the fire because it would be fun and they are an agent of chaos incarnate.

My Blood-Hunter/Sorcerer would probably start the romance by accident and be totally oblivious about it.

Is the tab you are most active in all the way to the left, all the way to the right or in the middle?

kirasha,

@bedirthan Most active tabs are to the left because they're pinned tabs and usually the ones I'm in most often every day.

My "top priority" tabs (usually current project stuff, work or personal) are in the middle/leftmost unpinned. And then the right fills up with all my "rabbit hole" tabs (random searches, articles to read/bookmark, half-filled shopping carts, memes to save, etc.)

You know those old lady ghosts that can only be detected by the overwhelming smell of their distinctive perfume? Yeah, that’s my daughter in a 100 years.

kirasha,

@Tim_Eagon

That begs one very important question, though...what's her signature scent?

kirasha,

@Tim_Eagon

Oh my! 🙈

kirasha,

@Tim_Eagon

Most dragonfruit scented things I know of are very sweet smelling in a sort of cloying way. Whether that's how dragonfruit smells or it's the artificial chemical version, i couldn't say.

Question to folks on here in the ttrpg hobby, what do you enjoy seeing the most on Mastodon? (Sticking to TTRPG related things)

Personally I like reading about what people are planning for their game and the related field of adventure and game writing. Pretty much in that order.

I'm wondering if I'm missing a whole area of stuff I could be looking at.

kirasha,

@LindseyBonnette I like seeing the storytelling process (worldbuilding thoughts, character concepts), tales from the table, and just the general enthusiasm people have for their creations be they characters, campaigns, books/supplements, etc.
