someone please explain to me like I'm 2 why Joel Edgerton keeps getting roles when he is, at best, a mediocre actor? Every time I see him in something I spend most of it going "Why is this man still here?"
It is a mystery on the level of why Sam Worthington still has a career. Dude has been the LEAD in multiple blockbuster films and I bet you can't even recall what he looks like. He is the ultimate Stock White Man from central casting and has about that same level of talent. Yet time and time again I see his name in the credits and I go "wait... which guy was he??"
Guess what? I'm on book tour this summer. Come see me discussing the history of psyops and the future of peace with these astonishing conversation partners! Be sure to say hi!
Along those lines, shoutout to BigBadCon for doing the same thing. I felt so safe at BBC because everyone had to take a covid test to get in (the con provided them at the door, even) and everyone had to wear a mask in con spaces.
Even when I attended the POC Dinner, in which folks understandably weren't masked the entire time, I didn't feel anxiety. Again, we had all tested before coming in.
I still wore my mask when I wasn't eating out of caution, but that's me.
I'm immunocompromised. Getting COVID is still very dangerous for me. And it pisses me off so much that people act as if it's okay to prioritize their comfort over the safety of folks like me. because that's all it is, comfort. Yes, wearing a mask for hours isn't great, yet it's also not torture (for most - I know some folks have issues due to trauma, and I respect that and have no beef). Get over yourselves and think of other people.
Every dang time I read one of @pluralistic 's blog posts I learn 2 - 5 things that piss me off. Things that are important to know, yet things that are enraging, nonetheless.
Today's Thing 1: "Bing is also the primary source of results on Duckduckgo"
"Try as hard as you'd like, you just can't shop your way out of a monopoly – that's like trying to recycle your way out of the climate emergency. Systemic problems need systemic solutions – not individual ones."
Stop wasting your time "boycotting Amazon" and focus on supporting the uprooting of monopolies.
@JsonCulverhouse@FlipboardCS@Flipboard What I want is to be able to see ALL my RSS feeds in one place with posts jumbled together in reverse chronological order. Then let me add individual posts to my magazine that I create to share with others.
I do not want someone else curating what I see under broad categories because, most of the time, the curators ignore the content and sources I like in favor of stuff everyone already knows about.
