Someone in the IT department of my bank (Komerční banka) is acting smarter than they should be.
When I tried to log in to the Internet banking, I got a message saying that "OS Linux is no longer secure" and recommending that I use an up-to-date OS, e.g. Windows 11.
I signed up for #Bluesky. Out of curiosity. Perhaps it's the newcomer syndrome, but it feels like a ghost town compared to #Fediverse. The UI is underwhelming and the service seriously lacks moderation. The only thing that I find better is the user search, but could that just be because the vast majority of users there are on one instance?
What are your impressions of Jack Dorsey's social network?
IMO Fediverse feels like a much healthier ecosystem.
Here are some other reasons why you should try @opensuse Tumbleweed.
It's a rolling-release distribution; that means new software is released continuously. You always have the latest software from #devs#contributors without having to reinstall your OS.
It is stable and reliable, despite being a rolling-release distribution. This is because #openSUSE Tumbleweed uses #openQA to ensure that new software is compatible with the existing system.
Let's reach out to all our scientist (and non-scientist) friends and acquaintances and encourage them to join the Fediverse. If you still have an a/c on twitter, post some messages there with links to the Mastodon signup site. Let's welcome them here and provide some gentle hints on how to be productive here.
