@lsn @gabriel The right to not be connected to the matrix is something I am fighting for, for a while now. I think this is the main subject. I remember that it began when I was a student, where inscription to university started to become more and more difficult without the Internet. Then came the banks, then social services, employement services, tax declaration, etc. Everything is made to tie us up to the big data.

I just realize today that meet now requires a sign-in step with major privacy-violating third parties and is now hosted by a company that explicitly retrieves personal data from the videoconference users.

Apart from the fact that it is always better to self-host such tool, that turn of events appears to me very suspicious.

    There is a thing in psychotherapy where people explain their situation that involve such kind of cheating, lying and highly manipulative people. This is one of the rare cases where most almost all therapists agree that there is nothing that can be done to improve the relationship. All that can be done is to terminated it. If we take the same stance for most of nowadays politicians, it means that there is no solution but to exclude them from our lives at every possible level.

    Some people hope that justice can be pushed on these people but if so, be prepared to a nightmarish fight and pick the most virtuous jurisdiction possible because their ability to cheat has no limit, even after being condemned. I don't think we have that kind of justice available today.

    I'm facing a rather painful / hiatus that would certainly be solved by a few million that I, as suspected, don't have.

    The developers I talk to, in order to work on solutions for people who need but don't have the culture that goes with it (and don't intend to have it), don't understand the point of creating such solutions because "they already exist".

    They then proceed to give me a bunch of software that are precisely exruciatingly difficult to use for the people I talk about.
