I’ve heard the exact same thing before: Chinese manufacturers will build to whatever quality you pay for, but almost everyone just asks for the absolute cheapest. The profit margins on the absolute cheapest quality are better than competing with other countries who can also produce higher quality goods.

I don’t think you can can you apply the insertion figures to calculate house prices because real estate has increased so much faster than everything else in the last two decades. To put it into perspective, I recall as a kid in the 90s, a friend living in a two story house with a pool next to the beach, and that house cost 400k - which seemed like a lot because we lived in a 3bed house on a suburban half acre block which cost under 200k.

About a decade ago, due to a quirk in our voting system which has been changed, we had a senator elected from a fringe motoring enthusiast party - and he only got a fraction of a percent of the vote. He was actually quite good because he was wise enough to know that he didn’t know things, so he sought the opinions of experts, and actually read and tried to understand legislation. Unfortunately he only had a short term, but I always use him as an example of how being a good politician isn’t about being the smartest guy, it’s just about listening to the experts and trying to represent the best interests of your citizens.

Is there an artist so horrible that no matter how hard you try that you cannot separate their art from them?

Similar to the recent question about artists where you can successfully separate them from their art. Are there any artists who did something so horrible, so despicable, that it has instantly invalidated all art that they have had any part in?

Yeah I was already a tiny adult when they came out. I tried reading them as an older adult and only got through one and a half.
