Congratulations @kepano for finding a revenue and growth model that fits your product, company and users.

Sadly that path does not work for everyone. Depending on what you’re trying to build, the development comes with significant upfront costs, where you need investments. As governments usually don’t support commercial developments much, all that’s left is . And as with any tool, it can be a great choice, if used correctly.

It's definitely refreshing seeing Obsidian be successful without committing to grow ad infinitum and be only user-backed.

But it's also a privileged position to be in and so many companies wouldn't exist without outside investment.

@jon Oh, I took literally the same train yesterday, but from Tunes to Lagos!

To be fair, I don't think they have many trains on this regio line. Although it's still better than we went to Évora from Lisbon where there are only three trains per day during the weekend.

@EighthLayer For someone new to #ReactNative, I'd recommend using Expo instead: https://expo.dev/

They take over most of the complexity of native. The React Native CLI is rarely the right choice unless you are in a large corp or have a brownfield app.

    @jon That's...interesting 😁 at least they let you buy the ticket, I want to go next week from Decin to the German border, but I can only buy a ticket online that originates and ends in Czechia. I have a D-Ticket, so I might buy a ticket to the last Czech station and then D-Ticket should hopefully be already valid for the cross-border journey between Dolni Zleb and Schöna.

    Looks like the border controls from Germany to Denmark might finally become at least less common. But I'm sure they will still wake you up in the middle of the night when on a night train to check you're not a criminal 🙃

    @jon It's the worst, I'm angry with you. I've had so many delays of trains and buses because of these fucking controls whereas cars are usually not checked. Just last month we were checked on DE-DK border and the police had to wake us up at three in the morning because it was a night train 🙄🤬

    @rubenwardy For me the need to regularly pull in third-party libraries to get basic tasks done is definitely one of the worse parts of the framework - especially for newcomers.

    I have NEVER owned a car. My contribution to air pollution, congestion etc. is confined to the handful of days a year I rent a car

    @jon Oh yeah, we still definitely need a more accessible variant of Deutschlandticket, actually stop subsidising the auto industry...but considering this is coming from Wissing, it's at least not making things actively worse, probably slightly better. New car owners will either not use the ticket and the money can go to making OPNV better or they might choose to use OPNV more often than they would have otherwise.
