It's the goddamn parents. It's YOUR GENERATION WHO FAILED, Karen! Gen Z may have less knowledge about basic life skills like how to cook, plan for meals, navigate health insurance (for what a fucked system it is)... because their parents never taught them. They focused on micromanaging their kids, instead of listening to them, instead of letting them get experience in simple things. You can't be prepared for something you've never done, never eased into.

That's why things like that "dad teaching you things" guy's channel on YouTube are so popular. Even in the best case where both parents were there, had time, weren't beaten down by the system, they probably never bothered to teach.

That's the other side. The Gen X parents in the top 10% of earners, dual-parent, dual-income, have little excuse. They failed. The ones struggling to keep their family afloat, it isn't their fault - late stage capitalism and fascism brought that upon them.

But regardless of whether it's personal failure or the horrors of our modern system, it sure isn't gen Z at fault. They're trying.

Social media has its ills. Surveillance capitalism is gross. There are problems with what the tech giants have created that need to be handled better.

But "I don't know how to adult, and I'm feeling crushed by this world [that you boomers and early gen X created]" wasn't caused by TikTok.

It wasn't mean tweets.

It wasn't an algorithm.

Thomas never disclosed that Crow was paying the tuition.

Made a cheesecake for my dad's birthday and shared it with my parents and @mathias tonight!

Strawberry cheesecake made from cooked-down pureed strawberries, on a ginger snap crust, with a thin semi-sweet chocolate ganache glaze and a piping of chocolate whipped cream and sweetened macerated strawberries on top.

Thrilled with how it turned out :kay_happy:
