Halki sleeps. That bowl is a foot across. She is tiny.

If you saw this cat, you'd think she was a half-grown kitten. Friends, we have had this cat in our house for a year and a half since we scooped her away from the country park, and she has not grown a bit. (Well, she's plumped up, that's it.)

Look at her cute little toe beans! Look at her cute stubby tail! Look at her adorable flame points! Her silky fur! (Pfeh! Spit it out, it gets everywhere.)

Well, here's a new one: I get an email from my doctor's office lecturing me for being a no-show while I'm sitting in the waiting room waiting and waiting

Despite the fact that I checked in both with their automated system and at the front desk, 15 minutes before my appoinment

Software quality crisis, what software quality crisis?

I did eventually get seen (an hour late), but I imagine I'm going to go through billing hell to remove a ghost "no show" charge. Any bets?

During some recent tomfoolery with fonts and making a little tool that lists out font inventories for me, I learned that Symbola has glyphs for a whole stack of emojis.

So now I have little SVG files with path definitions for all kinds of emojis which I can then parse and play around with using my art libraries.

Hilarity will ensue, be assured

Tux and Zoozvi, a couple of homeless waifs who have taken up residence under the deck. Tux is back hobbling on 3 legs, this time favouring his front paw. He gets into scrapes, poor lad.

More fun with curve ribbons

Rose curves

A wobbly translucent rose in yellows and greens. There is top-bottom symmetry, but it is like a rose seen through rippled water: the loops wobble and bend before looping back to the center.

Starr roses

A translucent ribbon loop curling over itself in five places. There is a kind of pseudo-symmetry: you could almost tell yourself it is radially symmetric if you looked at it from the right angle, but no, it is not. Earth tone colouring with distinct bands of blue and yellow-green. It says spring to me, somehow.

The thing about solids is, well, they are three dimensional: since the algorithm wants to map to corresponding points horizontally were have a wee problem. To pre-project or not to pre-project, that is the question
