Wie ich diesen Mythos des "toten Winkels" bei LKW nicht mehr hören kann 🤮 Jetzt wird sogar an Frankfurter Schulen das Märchen verbreitet - nur echt mit dem Abkleben der gesetzlich vorgeschriebenen Spiegel, wodurch die Betriebserlaubnis für den LKW natürlich erlischt:

In der Realität ist es eher so, dass LKW-Fahrer ihre Spiegel falsch einstellen, unaufmerksam sind oder sogar Aufbauten (Tische etc.) ins Sichtfeld bauen oder Gardinen aufhängen. @tk @beandev @FFMbyBicycle @primelprinz laber keine Scheiße. ABE ist allgemeine Betriebserlaubnis. Für viele Sicherheitseinrichtungen (Blinker statt Winker oder Sicherheitsgurte oder Unterfahrschutz) gab es vereinfachte Nachrüstpflicht. Für zusätzliche Spiegel ebenso. Dass teils Einzelabnahme für ein paar hundert Euro nötig ist: geschenkt.

Bei der Critical Mass in Hannover heute fuhr ein Liegeradler mit Seifenblasenauspuff mit. Nach ca. 10 Minuten kam ein begleitender Polizist daher und verlangte Eliminiation der Seifenblasen. Auf welcher Rechtsgrundlage?

100€ Finderlohn. Das meiner Tochter wurde am Freitag aus dem Keller gestohlen. Mattschwarz, 1x10 mit 42er Sunrace mit rotem Spider und Carbongabel. 27.5er Räder (eigentlich ein MTB mit 26) mit Panaracer Gravelking. War wohl ein Gelegenheitsdiebstahl (Entrümpler, Makler im Haus, daher Kellertüre immer wieder offen) und dürfte damit sicher noch in oder sein. Foto stimmt bis auf Sattel und Vorbau mit Zustand bei Diebstahl überein. 1/

Fixed a bike for a friend. Since wheelset was stolen and drivetrain was worn, we opted for a full re-build. After and before.

Since the oldest kid is dyspraxic (like me ), he did use a notebook at school for years now. Until summer this was a Lenovo Duet. In summer, it stopped charging and since also the display seemed broken and a few keys were stuck, I stored it away. For the 8th all the kids got fancy Terra Wortmann notebooks from school anyway. So no pressure to take a look at the Chromebook. 1/

Replacement for this lever. In about 36 years of Magura HS there were countless flaws and countless great iterations. No generation was perfect in total. Only combining generations works.

I think, I accumulated enough experience, thoughts and physical evidence to write a blog article on the history of HS Mountain and its successors. Spoiler: Until 2017, most problems involved stress distribution in metal. Better CAD and finite elements solved this, but lowering weight and production costs introduced new problems. I really hope Magura commits again to a niche product like rim brakes and doing them right.

I might just buy all reasonably priced HS from the good times, refurbish those that are OK on the hydraulic side with CNC made mechanical upgrades (like: "Why are you using plastic adjustment nuts with a regular M6 left hand thread?") and start a sidekick business this way.

Now I am done: I changed four brake levers which meant one 20ml syringe for each, two had so much particle residue that two flushes were necessary. So 120cm³ LHM+ used today.

When fitting new brakes, you can put the oil back to the bottle. Don't do this if the oil shows any sign of wear.

I work with three bottles: The
fresh stuff, here nothing is put back. The cycling jar, when bleeding new brakes, oil can be put back here. And a jar for never to be used again oil. Like when flushing very worn brakes.

In the last three years the "never again jar" (400cm³) got nearly full. Time to head for the local Recyclinghof (waste collection facility) next week.

It bothers me so much that most used fonts have no easily visible differences between "I" and "l" -- there's quite a difference between "Weird Al" and "Weird AI" as only one gets permission for and pays to reuse the work from a talented artist.

@windbliss @keirFox There is a reason for that. Back in the day of 19 inch Monitors with 1280x1024, sans serif just worked better. Since a few years we are at the point where mostly serif with sub pixel rendering works well with hi DPI monitors.

Hey folks! <3 I want to build a CO2 sensor with a battery life of several months. First using prototyping boards, then maybe as a custom PCB.

Some questions:

  1. What kind of approach/device would you suggest to measure the power consumption of such a device? I hope to end up in the single-digit mW range.

  2. What would be the lowest-power components required to drive a small e-ink screen?

  3. Does the 328P seem like a suitable controller, if I don't need any connectivity?

@blinry Feeding LoRa transmitted data from the CO2 Ampel to monitoring on the Input side and querying the REST API on the output side to show service states on a bunch of .

If you want to take the sensors to talks, feel free to ask us at the Checkmk booth at in K, ground floor. We will happily borrow you one for an hour or so (we will have three in rotation).

TL;DR: We will host a general purpose Mastodon instance on the domain mastodon.de with pretty good hardware we got donated.

We are in the process of getting a noBGP IP tunnel from @sarah through her Belgian company https://servperso.net! It’s very reliable and cheap according to the future co-admin Nick, who has been using her services for a while now.

I believe the IP address will hence be seemingly “located” in Belgium, I can already see the memes of “mastodonDE is hosted in BELGIUM??” no, it’s just the IP. All hardware is located in East Frisia.

We are currently planning on @Emily being a moderator with 2-3 other people also getting that position (they do not have a Fedi account yet).

We are planning on opening the instance around the middle of July, entirely self-hosted.

More updates will follow soon in this thread. Stay tuned.
