If someone blocks other instances of the fediverse just because they are having a worse day, then they do not understand what the fediverse is and are showing a total lack of respect for their users.
A few months ago I decided to start writing my own server for Vernissage for a couple of reasons. Firstly (and most importantly) I wanted to see what ActivityPub and Fediverse were all about. It was just an experiment.
Over time, however, I found that the iOS client would never be what I wanted it to be if it depends on a platform over which I had no influence. And over which its users also have no (or minimal) influence.
As you may already heard Vernissage will became independent platform (backend and web). One of the Fediverse 🌎 part like Mastodon, Writefreely, Pixelfed and others.
For this reason I would like to change current Vernissage for Pixelfed client name. Something that you will like and connect with Pixelfed 😉.
On this occasion, please send me your suggestions on what the new Vernissage for Pixelfed could be called. This is an app created with ❤️, for you, and you can create a part of it.
While I appreciate what they contributed to the Pixelfed ecosystem, it really hurt that they announced their own platform without reaching out to me first.
I know its petty to suggest avoiding them, and I know I'm bigger than that, so I'd like to apologize to @mczachurski
Maybe we can work together to ensure optimal compatibility, more fedi photo sharing platforms is a good thing!
@dansup Soon I will change the name of the Vernissage client for Pixelfed so people get used to it.
Vernissage will become an independent platform (which will not happen soon, if at all). If this happens then it will be to the complete benefit of the users as they will have more choice and be able to choose the platform that suits them better.
I ❤️ Pixelfed but after several months of using it I realized that it’s not best platform for my needs.
@dansup Whole idea about fediverse is about cooperation between different platforms even if they have similar functionality.
I admire your work. Personally, however, it seems to me that you are trying to do too many things at once. It is not possible for one person to do so many projects (after work). I understand that you love doing it, but you need to get some distance from it and think about it. It will be good for your health as well.
The screen for uploading photos is also clear and easy to understand. And it looks good (in my opinion) in both light and dark theme 😊. #Vernissage#VernissageWeb
Today I improved the user profile in #Vernissage (web) a bit. I added latest followers section, buttons for bookmarked and liked lists with photos. And other small changes and fixes.
It's official. AirPods Pro is a piece of crap. Six months after purchase, both headphones began to crackle when walking with the noise reduction on. Both headphones replaced under warranty. After a year and a half exactly the same thing. It is impossible to use noise reduction. Warranty expired. Never again.
@mgrzeca I saw that you managed to run an instance of #Vernissage. That is impressive 🤩. If you see that I can improve the documentation somehow please let me know.
@pylapp Yes, of course. My aim is to create a very simple platform (along with a new iOS client). A platform that is easy to install, focused on photos, thoroughly tested. And in the future Vernissage for Pixelfed will probably be renamed (to avoid confusion).
This is what my photographs look like printed on the wall, a mini private #gallery! I received this today with thanks for the prints .... I have to admit it looks fantastic! Another exceptionally beautiful moment!
The largest is in A1 format. All printed on baryta paper. Transporting them was a challenge ... 😂
Three years ago I tried using Piperlike on an iPad. However, the impact on screen quality was so big that I took it off after a few days. Yesterday I put on the Piperlike 2.1 and I am enchanted. Writing on the iPad is a pleasure and the impact on the screen is minimal. I would recommend anyone using the Apple Pencil.
@mczachurski@vernissage I’ve been using the app the last week and it’s extremely nice. I appreciate the SwiftUI and photo first approach to the UI. It’s nice to have the Instagram like photo sharing service of @pixelfed but with variations of UX. Both apps are great to have. Thank you for the hard work.
@dansup Something is wrong with unfollowing hashtags. I stopped following all of them a few hours ago, but new posts with these hashtags are still appearing on my timeline (on Pixelfed web and in the API).
Is there any list of following hashtags in the Pixelfed web?
