Trump floats idea of three-term presidency at NRA convention (www.theguardian.com)

Donald Trump flirted with the idea of being president for three terms – a clear violation of the US constitution – during a bombastic speech for the National Rifle Association in which he vowed to reverse gun safety measures green-lighted during the Biden administration....

metaldream,

It’s illegal now specifically because of fdr, idiot

metaldream,

Expectations are a lot different for high schoolers than adults in their 20s. I absolutely got rejected quite a bit in my 20s for living with my parents. Not by everyone but it was common. My 20s mostly came after the 2008 collapse, coincidentally or not.

This is in the US by the way and I’m sure it’s a cultural thing. In many countries, living with your parents until you’re financially stable or married is normal.

metaldream,

Crazy to me how Witcher created a believable medieval city in 2013 and Bethesda still can’t do something similar 10 years later.

metaldream,

I actually felt like I had to suspend disbelief a lot more in Skyrim than Witcher. Witcher at least felt believable, but then I go to the “Cloud District” in Whiterun and it’s the size of some guy’s porch. It just made the world a bit hard to take seriously. I’m not saying that Skyrim is a bad game, I enjoyed the hell out of it, but I definitely preferred Novigrad to anything in Skyrim. Still plenty of places to go in Witcher.

Also from what I understand, Witcher had hundreds of people working in it, but Bethesda still sticks to a fairly small team size, which I’m not convinced can be competitive in a AAA space after seeing starfield

Most of rural America wasn’t served at all, you had to travel to a town with a train station. For smaller towns, no lines were ever built. It’s a completely unrealistic idea. It also doesn’t address the issue of local transport.

metaldream,

We just want the US to stop giving Israel money and weapons. How is that so fucking hard to understand?

metaldream, (edited )

It’s usually family members or acquaintances, not strangers.

Bro, let’s stop pretending that men are in the driver’s seat for women’s behavior. They are grown adults. I’m not saying you’re all wrong, this kind of behavior is often understandable. Having said that, lot of the toxicity I see has nothing to do with men’s actions, it’s just people bullying other people and getting a dopamine rush from it.

Stuff like saying how stupid and simple minded the male mind is in a story about boys underperforming girls in school. Things that are rooted in resentment but not directly tied to any asshole in particular, and wouldn’t be considered acceptable if they were flipped the other way around. Another one I saw recently was that men should be subjected to genital mutilation so they know what it’s like (which is a good one considering how normalized circumcision is). Cruelty for the sake of cruelty. Does it come from resentment? Maybe, but since when was it appropriate behavior to take our grievances out on everyone?

What I’m saying is that there’s a lot of genuine bullying out there that can’t be justified as a reaction to others.

Grownups of all genders aren’t taking responsibility for things they say. It’s like everyone’s turning into their own little Donald trump and can say whatever fucked shit that’s on their mind, and their in-group immediately validates, excuses and reinforces it.

metaldream,

It’s not a feminist’s job to call out femcels. No one is responsible for someone else’s actions.

metaldream,

I remember buying a 4400 Ti just for Morrowind

metaldream,

The combat kills it for me unfortunately, even with mods. I thought I wouldn’t care but it just feels so bad. I couldn’t stick with it last time I tried.

Bro we can all tell you’re just looking for excuses to justify government violence when it suits you.

You can pull the mask off now, we know what you are.

metaldream,

I really like the simplicity of flat design. It makes things easier to find and recognize, especially for icons. Also easier for people with poor eyesight. It caught on for a reason.

Lemmy loves to shit on designers but there’s no way the designer had the autonomy to come up with this on their own. 100% guaranteed this idea came from marketing or an executive.

metaldream,

I think flat design makes sense for logos too, for the exact same reason it makes sense for icons. Flat logos are easier to recognize and see, especially from far away.

I’m not saying this logo great or anything but I don’t think it’s fair to claim that everyone using flat design is just a trend chaser.

metaldream,

Usability isn’t sad. I have vision problems and I very much appreciate the simplicity of flat designs.

Complicated designs aren’t always better designs.

metaldream,

To be fair the book also gave away the plot.

metaldream,

They won’t repeat the horrific thing they did while dead, that’s for sure.

I’m against the death penalty but it’s not hard to see why some people support it.

metaldream,

Of course it doesn’t, that’s such a condescending question.

The obvious response is that the perpetrator has a 0% chance of reoffending if they’re executed and that does carry weight with a lot of people.

metaldream,

Taking their money away isn’t enough. These billionaires often have deep connections to people who could easily help them regain their wealth and power. I’m not sure what the answer is but taking the money won’t solve the problem in every case.

metaldream, (edited )

That’s a huge shame. I found their IPs to be terribly boring and unimaginative compared to bg3. They aren’t that good at world building on their own imo.

metaldream,

They reached a huge audience with bg3, seems like a mistake to act like they’re a too good to follow up on it. No one except hardcore rpg fans ever cared about Larian’s IPs

You should read some history and stop acting so juvenile. Peaceful non disruptive protests never accomplished shit. People died for women’s right to vote, they died for civil rights, and they died for the five day work week. A one day shutdown of a bridge is fucking nothing compared to what went down with those movements.

This is democracy at work. Liberals are all the same, pro-democracy until it gets in their way or upsets them. You don’t change power structures by asking politely.

metaldream,

The U.S. isn’t funding the Sudanese military junta or the foreign fighters, that’s such a ridiculous counterpoint to try to make.
