Maybe I’m hallucinating because I can’t find it, but I swear there was a Nietzsche bit about “It is a weak man who walks around in armor.” In this case it’s literal armor.
Based on the headline I got the impression that the bible was excluding these two amendments. As in, their absence was jarring in the presence of the other amendments.
The truth is that they left out 17 amendments. Because it’s Trump. It’s aimed at people who don’t care about the Constitution. The customers just want the greatest hits, the big names.
Misleading headline aside, here’s what the they actually omitted (aka here’s a truth which doesn’t leave anything out.)
Can’t sue a state unless you live there.
Structures electing presidents / VPs.
Slavery is banned except when it isn’t.
Born on US soil == you’re 'Merican, Harry.
Suffrage regardless of race.
Taxes.
Structures electing senators.
Prohibition good!
Suffrage regardless of sex.
Specifies length for Presidential / VP terms.
Prohibition bad!
The two term limit for Presidents.
Gives D.C. electors.
You can vote even if you didn’t pay taxes.
Formalized the VP succeeding a dead president.
Voting age set to 18.
That time when Congress took 200 goddamn years to impose a restriction on their salary.
Essentially, they needed a list of things their target audience would eat up. Then they included the minimum amount of content required to say they had those things. (Remember, Trump et al are cheap as hell.)
It’s like an anthology saying, “We have Anne Rice! Stephen King! Issac Asimov!” and then it’s just one novella from each. But the customer just wants a book with those names on the front so it’s fine.

The other day I was trying to disable Ubuntu Pro stuff and the way to do it reminded me of Windows. Once I get my media backed up I’m switching to another distro, just not sure what one yet.
Someone who doesn’t have conspiracy-brain. The people that say capitalism is working as intended seem to live by the inverse razor of “never attribute to collective stupidity of the implementors what can be attributed to deliberate malice by illuminati-like mechanisms.”
But capitalism doesn’t explain itself in terms of “the owning class” screwing everything up out of self-interest. Capitalism will talk about positively channeling people’s self-interest. The intent is to construct a system that benefits people the most.
It’s objectively not working as intended unless you think there’s like… a hidden conspiracy behind capitalism where the elites carefully inculcated an economic theory over generations in order to normalize a system that would end up solidifying their status for hundreds of years to come.
It’s not working as intended, and it won’t work as intended, therefore we shouldn’t try to fix it.
I think we should compare dogs and cats to good pets to own, rather than pretending the choices are “big powerful dog” and “environment destroyer 3000.”
After all, both are safe in theory, but irresponsible pet owners ruin it. You can’t expect everyone to correctly take care of certain dog breeds, you can’t expect the majority of cat owners to give up the “proud to roll coal” attitude towards their cat + the environment.
By roll coal types I mean people who feel indignation when told they’re doing something harmful to the environment. There’s usually a bit of eye rolling involved.
We could have lab grown organic automatons, controlled via LLMs embedded in a neuralink. They will be considered non-human and therefore may serve as emergency rations. At the discretion of the tank commander they can be detached and used for eg minefield discovery, targeting consensus, or as “meat shields” as it were.

The more you give Israel the greater their scope. It’s completely obvious that you can attempt to limit their ambitions while still allowing them to defend themselves and engage in limited geopolitical maneuvers. They are not going to bet everything on manifest destiny at the expense of self defense and keeping terrorist groups in check. Make Israel have less and they will prioritize accordingly.
It feels Kafkaesque. “Hello, I’m against genocide. Do I stand in line to be labeled a terrorist simp? Should I stand in the Nazi line? Just wondering what label I’ll need to own.”
We create ghost projects. Like, lots of them. Basically just ideas, like what a patent troll would do. "Pokemon Lemmy: it’s a Pokemon clone with a Lemmy inspired story."
Officially tell relevant companies and start a 3 yr clock.
They are forced to treat every nothing-project as if it’s a big popular IP stomping hit.
If they don’t do anything about the nothing-project after 3 years, you pick it up for real.
In a long-awaited report, the State Department lays out numerous suspected international humanitarian violations by Israel in its war on Gaza, yet suggests no changes in policy or consequences....
Is it just me or does the report state that Israel is blocking aid? The legalese might make a distinction between ‘technically blocking aid’ and ‘doing everything in your power to slow, delay, and otherwise mitigate aid’… but that’s exactly what a layperson would call blocking aid.
They have to choose words carefully lest they accidentally trigger some process. But they did just describe what a smarmy country does to block aid while maintaining plausible (big stretch of the word) deniability.
She could always go to a homeless shelter where you’re surrounded by crazy hostile energy and shitty staff. I used to roll my eyes when people at the shelter would say things like, “This place will destroy your soul.” I was just happy to have a bed and roof over my head.
But when staff keeps makes disparaging remarks under their breath, throwing your fragile possessions around for fun (you can’t say anything or risk getting kicked out), doing shit like waiting until it’s lights-out and we’re sleeping to loudly take out the trash in the dorms, being rude to you if you interact with them… it really eats at you.
And everybody acts like you’re subhuman and don’t deserve basic respect. You have to be thankful! Gotta appreciate what you get! How dare you ask to be treated with BASIC HUMAN DECENCY.
I used to appreciate the help when I thought they were helping me out of the kindness of their heart. But now I know you pay for everything.
On one hand, the point of Goku is that he isn’t a good person, he’s more like a force of nature. A lot of things he does isn’t good by normal measures.
On the other hand, he’s a messiah figure. He is the savior of earth, a god, and his actions have worked out so far. If it’s bad but Goku does it and nobody can change his mind, then it’s good.
