One thing Mastodon (or a fork) could do to win some users over from Bluesky, is support taking your account private. It's wild that X and Threads are the only big post-Twitter microblogging platforms that allow this.

@jdp23 @kissane That's what I mean by the other stuff though - I think E2EE + some kind of certification system probably cross a reasonable threshold of safety, given that nothing is safe from, say, screenshots, regardless.

this is where I’m coming from with for changing culture, we need to rescue the idea of change/innovation/evolution from capitalism and its bros and girl bosses.
