If you love the web and were at all depressed by Google I/O, you should listen to this conversation with Molly White on DotSocial. She shares her optimism for the future of the web and explains how ideas like POSSE and decentralized social media are leading to a new era in which human expression is discovered and supported by human connection.
This interview with @rileytestut by @imdavidpierce is SO good. Super exciting vision of an App Store powered by developers who are supported with Patreon or similar. This is a really big idea. Also love that Riley has been active in the fediverse since 2018!

Got my first white supremacist reply from the fediverse after posting an article about Elon from Flipboard.
I reported and blocked the account & instance whose admin is also clearly KKK. That instance will now be blocked on flipboard.com and flipboard.social. It will also be shared with other instance admins for them to take action if they deem appropriate. Took 2 mins to help make the fediverse a bit better tonight.
The cool thing is that anyone can do this too. Decentralized moderation FTW.
Thanks for this. I have gotten my fair share of hate mail. All I want is an environment where we all respect each other. Thanks for making this possible
In this episode of Dot Social I interview Ryan Barrett, a talented bridge builder focused on connecting people across the open web. Ryan ignited a firestorm of excitement and criticism with his latest project, BridgyFed which connects Mastodon and Bluesky, two communities that share a passion for the open social web but are powered by two different protocols.

For the open social web to happen at scale, companies big and small need to adopt ActivityPub. Threads is the largest player to do this and the implications are huge.
On the latest episode of Dot Social I ask @rklambo and @pcottle, two thoughtful and genuine leaders on the Threads team, about why they're doing this and whether federation is a feature or foundational. Check it out on #PeerTube or wherever you get your podcasts. https://flipboard.video/w/2q29uCjnHjot1CHu1CZBim
@mmccue thanks so much again for having us on! Your podcast has been an amazing way to learn about what’s going on with the fediverse and bringing people together for great conversation. Thank you for everything you are doing to help support fediverse work at flipboard and everywhere!
This is a must watch video if you haven't already seen it. This video uses Uber as a great example of the broader #enshitification trend that really does need to be checked by both users and governments.
The problem with building a closed social network is that it sets up an all or nothing premise for users. They might like some of the signature features but they'll leave if there's not enough people to network with. That's a shame and a huge barrier to innovation and new social products.

The fediverse changes that forever. People can now use the features they like from a mix of apps across a common network of people. This means we can take a whole new approach to how "social" and "media" should work including discovery, user experience and monetization that will be far healthier than anything we've had in the past.
So far it appears the Israeli attack on Iran did not include an attack on nuclear facilities. CNN is reporting that Iranian state run media is currently playing it down and saying there have been "no disruptions". Meanwhile, people on X like Matt Wallace with 1.7M followers are posting that the attack was massive and showing fake images that include mushroom clouds.
I loved being on Scott's zen, highly informative podcast. Scott has been a long time curator of important insights and is an excellent interviewer. I did my best to explain the fediverse and help people understand the profound implications it could have on everything from journalism to democracy.
First, we launched a new version of Flipboard for iOS and Android which brings the promise of two way federation to life. Now when a federated Flipboard user curates, people in the fediverse (soon to include threads users!) can reply, favorite, boost or follow those Flipboard users who in turn will see that activity in their usual notifications tab. Even better, Flipboard users can now directly reply to people in the fediverse.
