@4CPcomics tour gets better as it goes is my feedback, with an outlier at 6.9. It's interesting to hear them start to gain ease and fluidity with the new arrangements, and to work out how to build sets around three tentpole sequences (HSF, Stephen/NFA and various PITB/Wheel combos).

It's kind of amazing how much people disparage work that's really intentionally about helping people. I don't even think people know they're doing it. Even when people emphasize the care aspect it's almost always at the cost of acting like you're less intelligent

@grimalkina so you're speaking here about the perceptions of scientists by others rather than how the scientists perceive themselves, yes? Interesting, because I don't think I've ever examined my own assumptions on the matter. When I think about it, I suppose my default assumption is that everyone in a given specialty must have a combination of personality and ability traits that match the needs of that field, but that the specifics can't be predicted (and make a lovely topic for conversation)

@paninid I recently listened to an episode of the superb Empire podcast that covered this moment, which led to the end of the EIC and start of the imperial Raj proper. Many of the iconic stories of this era turn out to be apocryphal but def seems like the belief they were going to be made to use pig grease was the flash point for the rebelling troops; it was linked to a current rumor or belief that the (increasingly evangelical) British were going to start forcible religious conversions.

Original music? Level of sincerity/authenticity? Not looking for a Mayer bash, genuinely curious as to what and how different eras of the conceptual through line make the cut for obsession > scholarship.

@spacefuzz depends on whether you mean the sociology or the music. From a sociological standpoint it's a continuum. I don't know about reverence but it's certainly interesting. Musically I think with few exceptions there's much less to engage with in detail. Don't have time to expand on it today but will catch up more tomorrow

I wasn't entirely sold on Kidd as a coach as recently as the start of the playoffs but in addition to holding the respect of his players - including Kyrie - he's done a nice job. I don't have a single critique really. They play smart, they lean into advantages, they get the most out of their role players. Good job by him.
