If you have a computer background already then dive in! For a gaming rig try PopOS or Nobara.
PopOS is Ubuntu based and used Gnome. They’re hard at work on a new custom DE that appears Gnome-like. PopOS is made by hardware company System76 to improve upon Ubuntu’s support of newer hardware they wish to sell.
Nobara is Fedora based and recently switched to KDE Plasma which aligns with the Steam Deck. Nobara is specifically tweaked for gaming.
This isn’t Linux, but Linux-like. Its a microkernel built from the rust programming language. Its still experimental, but I think it has great potential. It has a GUI desktop, but the compiler isn’t quite fully working yet....
Exactly as the title reads. All of these post for the most part seem ripped off the internet like some influencer. Nothing provided in these posts are really useful for people looking to join this community. Which is why it doesn’t have good traction basically none for what it should be....
Welcome! You mention some good ideas for content. I look forward to your product reviews and FAQ write up for newbies. I hope this community grows to include active discussions and becomes a wealth of info.
All of the existing posts are just fine though. Let’s not discourage anyone from posting and sharing in their own manner such as recipes. It would be great to see more high effort posts of any kind!
Not sure about other users editing the same post but starting a discussion around GF 101 or “stuff you wish you’d known” could be a good place to begin.

Fine with me if the victim wants to express forgiveness in a personal or spiritual sense but that should be irrelevant to the criminal case. There should be consequences when a Judge / court fails its duty to serve justice and protect the broader community.
My experience has been that LibreOffice will not correctly render my .csv files when they are above a certain size. Not talking about big data here either like a few thousand rows. For this reason I use OnlyOffice instead.
I own a Vitamix, a Zojirushi rice cooker, and a Zojirushi Home Bakery Supreme. I also own the instant pot max, and an air fryer by Sur la table. Between these appliances they help me make 90% of my food at home. The food is relatively easy, especially once you get the hang of the recipes, and they taste incredible!...
Our household recently picked up a Zojirushi bread machine. We must eat gluten free for medical reasons and GF bread from the supermarket is very expensive around $9 for a mini loaf of bread that crumbles and molds. We are finding it very cost effective to make our own breads.
Of course you can use a regular oven but the bread machine makes it so easy that we bake a loaf couple times a week. FYI bread machines do it all: dump and bake style. They knead the dough and such. The machine can also make pizza dough or dough for burger buns, dinner rolls, etc. to bake in the oven. In terms of GF baking it can be pretty tricky and the Zojirushi in particular has a GF setting that delivers great results. Great value for our family.
I made another batch, but this time I baked them for 40 minutes, cooled to room temperature on the bench, then cooled in the fridge for an hour, then finally tipped it out of the tray and sliced. So much better.
What do you want to self host? To learn or experiment buy a cheap old x86 box. I get mine at goodwill auction. Otherwise desktop is good if you want something that needs more compute and that you’d spin up as needed vs always on.
Looking to dip my toes into Linux for the first time. I have a 2016 Intel MacBook Pro with pretty solid specs collecting dust right now that I think I’m going to use. Research so far has indicated to me that the two best options for me are likely Mint or Elementary OS. Does anyone have any insight? Also open to other OS’s. I would consider myself decently tech savvy but I am not a programmer or anything. Comfortable dipping into the terminal when the need arises and all that.
I am looking forward to building my first PC and wanted to get advice on if there are any specific month/events (Eg: Black Friday) with discounts on PC parts that I should wait for.

I also like having piracy communities around to balance the greedy ass corporations trying to control media and copyright…I’m glad to know they are there if I need them or feel like screwing around with it. I’m glad the LW admins have the foresight to consider things like this and other areas of concern. It’s good to see LW admin admit when they don’t know enough about something and are being cautious. I don’t think Discord should be the place for any announcements though. Hopefully LW can get the legal protections or assurances necessary to host all of the content people want to see.

Who's the mod here? These post are very generic and won't help someone on a GF diet or new to one learn much of nothing.
