Ordered myself a pair of (ear plugs with specific level of sound reduction) and I cannot wait for them to arrive! They are very expensive so I've been saving to buy them (I paid 44 euro incl. postage), but I keep seeing other people using them successfully so I have wanted them for ages. Bought a pretty pink colour, as I shamelessy adore pink. 🌸

I safelost¹ my Loop accessories 🙄
__
¹ Put them somewhere safe, and now I have no idea where that place is

niamhgarvey,

@devxvda Pray to St. Anthony 😂

Mom is up and dying to see the Karcher electric mop in action. I have assured her that I am not a manky bastard and that I do, in fact, clean the house.

I have left a small coffee stain on the tiles for the last 3 days as a test

niamhgarvey,

@devxvda what is an electric mop Nick? Is it like a robot hoover but it's a mop?

niamhgarvey,

@Loukas @devxvda 😂

The Chop Chop Mop

niamhgarvey,

@Loukas 😂😂😂 I cannot stop picturing Nick scrubbing his floor with an enormous tooth brush now.

niamhgarvey,

@devxvda @Loukas Ah ok , now I understand. I thought it was some sort of independent mop that works away as you sit back and eat cake and spill crumbs without a care in the world.

niamhgarvey,

@devxvda @UnCoveredMyths @ratcatcher @Loukas I use an egg boiler! I love it! It is easier in the morning to pop the egg into the little boiler on counter, rather than bending down to pots (my back is worst in morning when arthritis makes it very stiff) and I can ignore it while making the kids lunches. It beeps when ready. It's like the difference between making toast in a grill versus a toaster; it is less work and quicker.

niamhgarvey,

@spika @actuallyautistic I had similar but as a parent... Thought I had autistic kids but wasn't autistic myself, yet I could always understand what was triggering my kid's stress/ meltdowns etc as they also triggered me; I had just learnt to "pull myself to together" and mask my stress. Thought being able to my autism meant I wasn't autistic. But I was wrong. Now I am so happy I know I am autistic 😊

    @devxvda you sharing this will help others. Well done Nick.

    niamhgarvey,

    @obrerx @actuallyautistic @allautistics This has really cleared this up for me. I had no idea that some viewed it as a way to seperate professionally- diagnosed and self-diagnosed autistic people. Really glad you tooted this. I only knew it as a tag to seperate non -autistic voice from autiatic voice.

    niamhgarvey,

    @liscarey @obrerx @actuallyautistic @allautistics That was similar to memy experience and thinking

    niamhgarvey,

    @liscarey @obrerx @actuallyautistic @allautistics Are you asking me what I do professionally? If so, I am currently a writer, writing books for adults and kids about being autistic.
    Previously I was a nurse but cannot nurse now do to physical disability.

    My has been sick lately and they can’t quite pinpoint what’s going on.

    I know, she’s 17 1/2… but I’ll never be ready for ‘that day’.

    It’s been expensive, very expensive, but she’s worth it. She’s stable - just some lab work and symptoms that are unusual.

    She’s been my little everything my entire adult life. We have a special bond.

    We’re going to the vet again tomorrow for more tests — could you please keep my lil Mac in your thoughts? She’s the bestest baby.

    Thanks 💜

    niamhgarvey,

    @britt hope she is ok 🌸

    Spent 2 hours painting a shed today and now I cannot walk. No, I did not use my feet to paint (although that would be cool) , I simply have (hypermobile ehlers danlos syndrome) and any physical activity on my feet fatigues my ligaments to the point of making it hard to walk as my joints are not held together properly.

    But I am okay with this. And proud that I finished the shed and it now looks nice and tidy.

    niamhgarvey,

    @avuko yeah, my rheumatologist says they go hand in hand

    I just had someone ask me how I "caught" and then "recovered" from my #autism.

    Do I lose my #ActuallyAutistic card now? 🙄

    niamhgarvey,

    @ratcatcher @devxvda 😂😂😂😂

    Hilarious.

    When I was a kid I was nicknamed nymph as people said I was nymph-like/ other worldly. Also had a childhood passion for fairies, and a love of superstition. Think I'd fit in well with the Sídhe.

    niamhgarvey,

    @ratcatcher @devxvda skitting. I just want to bottle you and your jokes.

    niamhgarvey,

    @devxvda @ratcatcher I don't remember seeing your toes. I have dreadful toes but I have no intention of sharing them here 😂

    niamhgarvey,

    @devxvda @ratcatcher Ok as usual I don't know if you are being serious or not.

    Sigh.

    devxvda, to random

    I'm feicken melted

    niamhgarvey,

    @devxvda @samantha I have a dehumidifier on always in my utility room under the ceiling clothes drying rack. Works brilliantly.

    niamhgarvey,

    @devxvda @samantha yeah I have the auto shut off type. Bought it 7 years ago when we externally clad our house, and had to run a dehumififier non stop for about 2 years. Apparently when you clad the house, the wall moisture has to come out, so comes out into the house. We had awful damp for ages plus a full dehumidifier every day but it's all cleared now. Just shows how good the cladding is.

    niamhgarvey,

    @devxvda @samantha would love to see photo of your autism room

    Is there a way on mastadon to pick a few favourite people I follow and always see their posts as a priority over others?

    niamhgarvey,

    @annika ah ok. Thank you!

    oisinmcgann, to random

    I've just had to apply for Garda Vetting AGAIN, which requires you to fill out every address you've had since birth (I've had fourteen). Each vetting can only apply to ONE organization, a serious pain for freelancers, who can't get themselves vetted and have to work with numerous organizations in any given year. I've written about the whole process here:

    http://oisinmcgann.com/known-to-the-police-what-ive-learned-about-garda-vetting/

    niamhgarvey,

    @oisinmcgann yeah it's such a pain. I've filled it in a ridiculous amount of times.

    Cbfoley, to crossstitch

    New start! Another from Bothy Threads that I bought long before & could actually buy from the UK without hassle.

    @crossstitch @fibrearts

    niamhgarvey,

    @Cbfoley @crossstitch @fibrearts reminds me of cóbh; multicoloured houses.
