Who gives a fuck? Let him rant into the void, we all know everything that comes out of that parasite is ignorant, toxic hot air that feeds on the attention.
Lock that thing up.
π knows how long it is, yet π still didn’t say “no, after you, you’ll take up a second of my time, but I’ll take up ALL of your time”.
π here is a mindless and inconsiderate jerk.
I am real American, live in authentic American warm-water port and how about those New York Yankees Of Baseball Team!
Now that we have established trust with entertainment reference, I tell you that voting for Biden is no good.
Look up the story of 17th-century castaway Phillip Quarll.
After several years alone on an island in the Pacific, although it had an abundant monkey population. Then one day a ship passed by and landed on the shore.
Quarll opted to remain alone on the island for the rest of his days, assured the captain that he was of sound mind even while choosing such a fate, to prove it handed him his own story in writing, I suppose there was paper and ink that had survived the shipwreck.
Quarll cooked a meal for the captain, using only ingredients he had been using for years on the island; the captain later described the meal as exquisite in its’ simplicity and harmony, at one with nature.
In his experiences, Quarll had been changed profoundly. Originally quite a drunk hellraiser back in England, he had found an inner peace, and did not see the value of himself returning to civilization and society.
Those Ethiopian and Kenyan runners live and train at high altitude, when they compete at lower elevations where there’s more oxygen, they have a dramatic edge over other runners.
I’d wager we would see the same effect if athletes from Bhutan, Nepal and/or Tibet decided to compete in long-distance running.
Back in the late-80s or early-90s, a guy in my coastal town bought a new Nissan Pathfinder, took a bunch of friends for a nighttime joyride at the beach. I do believe there was beer involved.
When they hit water lapping in the sand and made a sharp turn, the tires made a wake that looked really, really cool! Do that again!
Suddenly, the car stopped moving forward. They had drifted too deep. Of course none of these rocket scientists had any idea if the tide was coming or going… it was coming.
They got out - through the windows I guess - waded onshore and prayed for the best. But like I said, the tide was coming. They saw the Pathfinder that still had that new agency car smell, getting completely submerged.
Next day a tow truck pulled it onshore, but as you probably guessed, it was a total loss.
A warm water port that does not pass through an enemy territory strait, etc. You know, just normal everyday concerns for us Texans. Did I mention I’m from Texas? Yippee ki yay.
If by “a while back” you mean 2021, when a massive arctic blast went all the way down to the middle of Mexico.
It also happened last year, on a smaller scale.
Both times, Texas fared worse than the surrounding states, in terms of their greedy ignorance and incompetent grid. It wasn’t just the blackouts and brownouts, also many peoples’ electricity bills ran into the thousands of dollars.
I grew up in a fully bilingual home, in northwest Mexico. Then I was a foreign exchange student in Virginia, so my accent picked up a hint of southern twang.
So English is my second language, give me a minute of talking in it, and I’ll start thinking in it, without the need of translating it in my mind. People tell me they can’t place the accent… somewhere from Scandinavia, perhaps? French, maybe?
Someone once asked me if I grew up an army brat in Japan, and picked up some of the accent that develops in the communities around those bases, which is a fascinating concept.
Another friend, who’s seen me go off in both Spanish and English, switching back and forth between people, told me that I have two personalities, and they’re tied to the language, and they are like musical notes that go together.
EDIT: Now that I remember, what my friend said was “it’s like you have two souls”.
I think it was fortunate to have been enveloped by two languages so early on. Learning academically is important, but it’ll only get you so far, the rest of the way requires that you be exposed to it, both passively and actively.
When I grew up, local cable had only stations from San Diego, if you wanted to watch cartoons, it would have to be in English.
You want motivation? I’ll show you motivation: You learn English, and your reward is Bugs Bunny and Saturday morning cartoons. Every single one of my friends growing up spoke English and Spanish.
Less than a decade later, Mexican cable and satellite came into town. The English-speaking channels from San Diego got drowned out among a tsunami of new choices… and a huge motivation to learn English disappeared virtually overnight.
It looks to me like the type of environmental random experiment that pops up, like a Darwinian mechanism. Like growing a sharper beak to crack the nut. Then just as quickly as it popped up, it disappeared again, although an echo was left.
If that idiotic and corrosive Brexit campaign had been defeated, the headline might be screaming how scheming EU nations drag the UK into their expensive transport plans.
Also the same mindless parrots on their tellys and newspapers would be mindlessly arguing the point, tossing out word salads, exactly as they would with the EU making their plans and keeping the UK out of them.
Meanwhile, non-voters who could have made a difference will be just as idiotic on polling day: “Politics is for wankers/both parties are the same. Shall we go for drinks?”
Obama FEMA Boncentration Bamps!
He’s coming for yer gunz!
They repeat the same lie over and over and over again, and these one-dimensional simpletons swallow the entire thing, time after time after time.
The problem is, these one-dimensional simpletons vote.
And you know who doesn’t vote? The other type of simpleton who swallows that other cherry-picking lie, over and over and over again: bOtH pArTiEs ArE tHe SaMe LoL aMiRiTe.
“She must be executed.” “But you beat your meat to her videos all the time.”
“That is a sacrifice I am wiling to make.” “Wisely said, brave martyr. Glory be to Allah.”
“Glory be.”
In the late-70s/80s it was slasher movies. In the 80s/90s it was Rambo-style action movies, or Lethal Weapon and Fatal Attraction-style thrillers.
There have always been Hollywood bandwagons.
The difference is that back then the major studios made a bunch of films of all scopes and budgets, while today those same studios make fewer, more expensive movies.
If Scorsese was a young man today - or Robert Altman or William Friedkin, whoever - he probably wouldn’t get a chance to make a Raging Bull, he’d be steered towards a superhero film with - of course - NO final cut. The one exception is Christopher Nolan. And even he did an entire superhero TRILOGY.
Taking what Marty is saying and putting it another way - major studio content is not driven by a director’s creative vision in the current environment, but by producers… the suits and their market research.
So… hysterical and stubborn, unempathetic ignorance is bliss. Until it isn’t. Which is to say - until whatever toxic regressive bullshit they have entrenched themselves upon affects them directly.
So say mediocre minds in constant need of a narrative that’s final and neat and wrapped in a little bow, all the time.
The Reddit Protest Is Finally Over. Reddit Won.
By some short-term metric here and there, I guess, if you’re willing to squint while looking at the panorama. And just how does the hack writer define “winning” - as “not disappearing or sinking into irrelevance overnight”?
Because long-term nobody knows, as places like right here are continuing to develop and grow, are quickly becoming a viable alternative, ever more active, in a positive feedback growth cycle.
