FRIDAY POLL: When you read in your leisure time, do you tend to read books that overlap with your professional work or tend to avoid them? Which do you prefer?
@caseynewton Hmmm, not sure that is a good idea, you could already tweak the responses a bit. Out of curiosity I asked ChatGPT to call me dude, and insert scifi and heavy metal references. Which made the answers completely useless. It got so tangled up in its responses that facts mattered less than those quotes.
Fun but useless. Add some force to your code and rock on. Surf’s up dude!
Geez, my BlueSky feed, which I built myself, is full of stupid shit. What is it about social media platforms that encourages people to say gross, dumb stuff and think the world wants to hear it?
Worse is why I keep thinking it might be different tomorrow. It’s not.
@idoubtit I have a BS account, to check on some people who are only there. But the atmosphere there is so… not really toxic, but stressed, like it is all about commotion. I’m all for new platforms, but I really don’t like it there.
Had a long ass chat with my gramma last nite. She said ' Jaden you will never find happiness because all you do is plan for the next thing, always looking for something new and better. Just sit back and enjoy what you got'.
Think she may have a point??????
What yall think 🤔
@Jaden3 She is not wrong. Always looking for the next great thing will eventually teach you one thing: it will never be good enough in the end. Appreciating what you have now, will give you different options in life as it creates room for different qualities than just improvement for the sake of it.
That said, if you really want something, go for it. Just dont forget to pause once in a while and enjoy the view. 😊
Today was a huge milestone in our quest to federate #Flipboard and tear down the walls around our own walled garden.
First, we launched a new version of Flipboard for iOS and Android which brings the promise of two way federation to life. Now when a federated Flipboard user curates, people in the fediverse can reply, favorite, boost or follow those Flipboard users who will in turn see that activity in their usual notifications tab. Even better, Flipboard users can directly reply to people in the fediverse -- and very soon they will also be able to follow each other.
Second, we federated some of our best curators today who are actively curating more than 10,000 magazines about everything from climate change to kale smoothie recipes. I'm grateful to our many curators and the service they provide to so many others who want to find the best content about a shared interest. I know our curators are excited to have millions more people who could potentially benefit from their curation. I also know that people in the fediverse will give a warm welcome to these curators. Especially now that everyone can hear and talk to each other over what was once two totally separate networks but now increasingly are in one and the same #fediverse.
@mike I experimented with flipboard a decade ago, saw the promise but really never got into it. It is really great to see you now leading the way and federating on every level. This is the way, love it!
@mike 10 years ago I made some festival magazines in Flipboard by combining sources. I rarely used an ipad after, so it wasn’t really missing features.
@Jaden3 nah, me liking you is one thing, you liking me is another. If you post cool updates I’ll follow you anyway. Followback is a bonus. Appreciated, but optional.
