In the past 7 months, Israeli forces have carried out strikes on humanitarian aid workers in โ€“ not once, not twice, but at least 8 times.

In armed conflicts, the worldโ€™s primary focus should, of course, always be on the suffering of innocents on the ground.

But we should also think about the destruction of minds beyond the immediate war zone - how reason and morality are wrecked by a conflict mentality. People condemn one sideโ€™s atrocities while justifying (or ignoring) the otherโ€™s, as if the laws of war and expectations of basic decency only apply to one side.

I feel to help end the former - the immediate suffering - weโ€™ve got to work on the latter - the wider poisoned atmosphere.

We need more people defending universal humanity and condemning atrocities regardless of which side has committed them - more people supporting principles over partisanism.

He was asked to share his experiences treating patients in .

But Germany denied him entry & imposed a Schengen-wide ban on him.

On April 24, Human Rights Watch wrote to the German government asking for an explanation of how its actions are consistent with Germanyโ€™s international & domestic obligations to protect & facilitate freedom of expression and assembly & nondiscrimination.

We have not received a response.
