On the Windows 11 work laptop, I was ready for a fight with IT over installing Vim. They already didn't want to "let" me run LibreOffice because we are supposed to use Google Apps for everything officey.
I avoided the conflict by trying to install Vim to my user directory. I vaguely remembered doing that years ago, and surprisingly it worked.
@vwbusguy I haven't looked at Nextcloud in a long time. I'm looking at what is involved. I already use Syncthing for file sync, but that doesn't have a web interface. This could be a fun thing to play with on the Raspberry Pi 4B
@vwbusguy I can't find recommended specs for #Nextcloud. I did see something about SD cards not being recommended for storage, which I totally understand. My current Pi server uses a USB flash drive for storage, but I'm not against using a regular USB drive (spinning or SSD).
@vwbusguy It's so easy to set the RPi 4B to boot from USB. My brief experience with FreeBSD booting from USB wasn't great, but I don't think USB had anything to do with it. I need to set up a Raspberry Pi OS system on USB and give that a go.
I would like to try TinaCMS, but I need to "commit" to running a Hugo site that uses Git and CI/CD. Not saying I won't do it, but it is not how I'm doing it now.
@AngryAnt I think the Guix documentation is pretty good. You don't see that volume of docs in most projects, and it definitely exceeds the bar for quantity. Quality is not bad, either.
For me the key is: Are enough people using the system, solving their problems and then sharing their solutions?
