Man, I think there are probably quite a few GMs who are glad they didn’t pay for or be in consideration for Durant. It’s awesome he’s ready to let someone else (Booker) be the face but IMO he used it as a chance to reduce responsibility for failure. Aggressively. Still talented and will be able to shoot over people until he’s 80 and could still play a great supporting role for a contender but looked completely over the hill. Should be traded for what can be salvaged.
Beal is a talented-at-times scorer who, against weak teams, in his prime, could do well. The playoffs, when your older are no time to learn how to compete, play as part of a system or play defense. Has to go.
Booker won’t be traded, he’s the face. He’s better than Beal as he has grit and a much higher floor and ceiling but he’s gotta learn how to play team D.
Nurk was decent but is used to playing with talented passers and team ball…Booker and Beal mostly heroball. Nurk also doesn’t have what it takes for the playoffs, he’s been outclassed in ost every series I’ve ever seen him in while with Portland…including making Ayton look good at times.
The pace of babies born each year in the U.S. has slowed to a new record low, according to an analysis of 2023 birth certificate data published Thursday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention....
As the article points out, US has been below replacement birthrate(2.1 children per woman) since 1971. Immigration is the only reason the US has continued to have a growing population since that time.
1.6 is bad but many industrial countries have the same issue–only they don’t have strong immigration draw(or don’t allow it) to fall back on. East Asia (Japan, South Korea and now China), as well as southern European countries (Portugal, Spain, Italy) have had crushingly low birth rates for years.
Social programs, entitlements and politics are incredibly affected.
At the end of the day, people are being worked so much and are so stressed they can’t enjoy or don’t want to entertain bringing a new life into what for many countries is a vicious cycle of exploitation.

Haven’t heard that take before, interesting. When did you start listening to their music? No judgement, no quip coming, just interested; sometimes the order we hear music from an artist gives us a very different impression than someone who followed them chronologically.
Fatboy Slim, You’ve Come a Long Way Baby I could listen (and have) all the way through for decades. Barely even had a few singles after that I enjoyed. Was very disappointing.
Imagine how many bags of chips could fit in the Tesla semi if they didn’t only fill the truck 60%? Oh well, they have a practice and have to stick to it.
For me it’s gotta be something from ARTE (the French/German culture television channel). Either it’s the one about Chodorowskis weird Dune project or the three-part series about the history of racism. Both were extremely well-made documentaries.
The civil war as well by KB. The Ashokan Farewell stayed in my head for 20 years after watching it and I didn’t know where it came from. All I remembered was a good narrator and serious historical content, finally found the song name!

Dude barely could form coherent sentences. He wanted to be on his ranch, not make hard decisions and coast through life as he always had on his privilege.
His cabinet on the other hand, of course picked for him, was the Mr Rushmore of military-industrial corpo takeover.Cheney ex Halliburton CEO that directed no-bid contract awards in the many billions to them. They of course still fraudulently over billed the government and had to cop to repayment in a level of awkwardness seldom achieved. "Con"deleeza Rice, who Exon named an oil tanker after prior to being secretary of state may have had oil interests in mid, Rumsfeld who was both the youngest and oldest secretary of defense in Ford and then Shrub administrations directed negative and increasingly antidemocratic military policy from Vietnam to Afghanistan.
No, that is bullshit. If you don’t trust them or if they can’t be trusted don’t give them a phone. Nanny parenting, or pretending you’re the NSA is unhealthy for their development, and gives you an illusion of control of their life that is inaccurate and misleading.
Talk to your fucking kid about your worries or their behavior and/or parent them, actually drive behavioral change, but don’t bitch out and not parent and pretend the E-leash is helping them or you.
Teachers are DEFINITELY the issue with schools. Unions are also a huge concern–imagine someone daring to stand up to an employer? The nerve. Why couldn’t they just roll over like all private employees who haven’t gotten their heads screwed on and organized?
God forbid the taxes we pay provide childcare or that stingy private employers pay enough so that these parents could cover childcare costs understanding a race to the bottom benefits no worker?
This is a Florida/texas-fed initiative to limit union power, full stop.
UC spends enormous amount of energy on “diversity” and “equity” yet despite all the PhDs and HR teams have managed to avoid the inevitable conclusion that they have modeled themselves on an inequitable structure.
