HR is a funny one; if you know what you’re talking about about and can speak to different audiences at their level it’s not generally push back from a professional knowledge point–pushback for HR is usually “yeah but that is hard/not what I want” which is very different and totally fine.
Except fucking compensation. Glassdoor is the WebMD bane of comp conversations with employees. It’s a selection-bias informed group of people who provide salaries when they think they’re underpaid and need validation. While, for the most part we’re all underpaid, just like WebMD, the dangerous oversimplification of very nuanced and complex data is nothing but a PITA to people trying to to fix or work in good systems.
“I saw my job is being hired for $xx,xxx I should be getting that”. Location, industry, industry segment, education, KSA, org size, high variance in titles from one company to the next(manager here is VP there), every other pay/bonus/benefit/time off difference, internal pay equity considerations that are often statutory by state/feds–none is captured and people aren’t taught that those are part of comp. Just this title is $xx,xxx. The worst part is that managers run to HR with often this info directly supplied by candidates or their own employees all worked up HR is fucking them by underpaying. I’m the first person to tell a manager their comp is fucked against a market if it is, which helps build trust but it’s exhausting.
This plays out in every job offer, promotion, annual merit increase and any time you remind people they’re not coming to work for free.
Again, almost never see this in other areas if you know what the hell you’re doing in HR, but I guess the incentive and stakes are high enough in comp to make people just go off the deep end.

Cowardice implies humanity; Don’t ascribe human qualities to a profit machine, regardless of what the supreme Court says. This comes down to board of directors level decisions and they are only on the board as they have been successfully conditioned to accept profit at any cost as an operating model.
I was honestly shocked at the parade of companies slapping rainbows and pride slogans and diversity communications in the 2010s…when most of them had been silent and completely positionless on discrimination towards lgbtq (or any other group) only years prior. What should NOT come as a surprise is that corps showed up for a free commercial lunch in a pre-trump bigotry-is-still-socially-unacceptable era, but as soon as there were implications to their bottom line, they showed their true colors…they don’t care. They are agnostic except profit. Corporations would operate under fascism, a military coup, child raping priest theocracy, anything, as long as they can continue to generate profits.
Principles have costs at some point, and corporations look to cut any costs they can. Corporations (well C corps in the United states anyways) are incapable of values and principles beyond what is required by law; they believe law requires them to prioritize profit at any cost. Remember how many companies hired chief diversity officers after George Floyd and BLM? How many were dismantled or eliminated in the last year?
The revolution will not be televised, and it certainly won’t come from corporate board rooms or product lines.
Rather than move on from an aging Durant and clown acquisition Beal and hold their players accountable, they take out their serious coach and bring in a player pushover. Vogel might not have been the right choice for a run-and-gun team but they rarely ever ran and gunned and he’s a winning coach. Seems straight out of the Durant playbook; hope booker realizes having a coach that can hold other stars accountable is the only way you get a ring if you’re not going to do it.
Hope booker realizes his shot at anything just went out the window. Throwing a coach that knows the level of defense it takes out the window when your team has fucking none, instead of getting rid of a clown acquistion Beal is the same as saying you don’t want to win. If Booker wants to be KG in MN then that’s fine but don’t pretend you want to compete.
Kind of interesting ANT Edwards barely got any votes as the best player on (admittedly deep) MN team that finished 1st in the conference. Kind of crazy SGA got more than him if you think your teams record matters in this voting.
These awards and accolades are usually late and slow though and MN has been a non factor for so long I think it’s just laziness in voting, and I think Edwards was still largely ignored by NBA establishment–but not after these first 6 playoff games will he be ignored anymore.
You’re totally right, I missed them dropping in the last month of the season or so. Still, feel like Edwards got a surprisingly low vote tally for what MN accomplished. They were on top for a good chunk of the season.
If these thick dolts would only just put their efforts to obtaining obscene wealth they’d have what they want; impunity and everyone telling them how special and important they are.

Call me crazy but I think Kawhi has shown he’s way past prime/dependable and his offensive play style doesn’t fit the run and gun NBA and since his body clearly can’t hold up for the season or even the playoffs what is the point of having him? Maybe one of the best wing defenders ever in his prime but those years are gone. Few players better if you need a bucket but he wants slow isos.
George, on the other hand continues to look like what you anchor around, with harden as ball dominant scorer, those two are compatible. Get rid of Russ.
