Shit... How long does Sir Kier Not-Purging-The-Left-Fromm-The-Party-Honest-Guv Starmer have to resolve Abbott's disciplinary and suspension to allow her to stand again?
I have always felt #Starmer is an arsehole and his treatment of #Abbott has been awful, but today's news is the absolute pits
Starmer has been implying a disciplinary process is ongoing which actually completed in December and now they're just hellbent on not letting her re-stand regardless and were not going to tell her until the day before candidate registration closed...
So much conflicting info on this story... Seems she has been allowed the whip back but unclear if standing/allowed to stand again...
I find it hard to believe that Starmer and his fellow arseholes felt it best to have this row during the election campaign though - just shows a level of sheer incompetence above the racism... They don't even seem to have a statement 24 hours later...
I really hope it's finding a way to fuck over Kier Starmer, but i wouldn't blame her for wanting to stand back given all the abuse she has suffered over the years...
@steely_glint unlikely to pick up again... I'm at 60% and the only character I'm close to caring about is Ibi and he's barely involved... The author seems to think "we need to pass some time, I know..." Writes "and then they had sex" again -
It is really quite pathetic that both our main parties have so little vision, so little ambition, that they can only view working 'til we drop (dead, preferably) as a valid societal model & every "solution" they see is around preparing young people for this ("more resilient") or browbeating ill and disabled people until they have a damascene revelation about their difficulties and give up on sorting out their health or trying to have any quality of life
The Tories meanwhile are conflating stress and depression and in-work and out-of-work support as they see fit to sow confusion and try to push ridiculously offensive ideas around cutting support.
Stress is short-term problem for which a period away from work can help (even if work itself is not the straw that breaks the camel's back). You should get SSP (and Contractual Sick Pay?) to help with this.
Depression is a long term problem for which you can learn to deal with and may get PIP for
