I'm a bit sad. I've tried to bring people over to with what are good arguments to ME: content creators will eventually be shadowbanned or booted off a platform as soon as there is advertisers or payment processors demanding it. For marginalised people, Mastodon has powerful tools to stay safe.
But most people I talk to do acknowledge that and then go on to stay on or sign up for .
But I understand the discoverability issues, it's Mastodon's greatest weakness IMO.

This has mostly been reported as "trans women banned from women's chess" but it's much more sinister. (as if it weren't already.)

ALL trans people are targeted by this ruling. Trans men will be stripped of all chess titles won, which can only be returned to them by “changing the gender back to a woman” (from the ICF’s ruling). ALL transgender chess players will be marked as trans in their files.

If you play or know anyone who does take a stand on this. It's ugly.

@futurebird FIDE has been to the core for years, seems like today's culture is letting them say the quiet parts out loud.

Organized chess is such a blatant example of sexism, where men want to exclude women, and women need to be away from the creeps to play in peace.

It is so overdue for a new organization to emerge and let FIDE fade into the ash heap of history.
