It used to be SO EASY to find people that had just landed their first iOS job. We've had so many great speakers at iOS Dev Happy Hour because of that.

It is now SO HARD to find them. If you know of any please give me a heads up and I'll reach out to them to see if they're interested in sharing their stories.

@MuseumShuffle Just from my perspective, there seems to be fewer and fewer junior iOS developers roles available. Companies seem to only be hiring intermediates and above. It's really disappointing :/

What’s the best app for cataloging a collection of physical movies? Looking for a barcode scanner and iCloud syncing. I’d love a shared library with my wife but basic syncing via iCloud and barcode scanning are the big ones.

Something that has me mildly stressed out about Deep Dish Swift is how many people are attending that I’ve wanted to meet IRL for so long (as well as people I’ve only had the briefest interaction with IRL).

It doesn’t seem possible to get to know nearly all of them in the three days.

Now that I'm localising Söka into 30 different languages, I also have to translate App Store metadata & screenshots. Automating my screenshots has been something I've put off for far too long.

Now I finally have the motivation to do it! The first part is done: write UI tests to open the correct screens and take the screenshots.

Still to do:

  • Make the screenshots look pretty - I'll be trying to do that with Picasso
  • Automate uploading & adding to ASC

I spent a lot of time coding tonight, but not in Swift! I guess I should say that I've been scripting.

I wrote a bash script that:

  • Executes my UI tests against the devices I want
  • Uses xcparse to get the screenshots that were saved as attachments in the .xcresult file
  • Puts the screenshots into nice organised folders
  • And cleans up after itself ready for the next time I have to run the script

Pretty interesting exercise, writing all of these scripts the last few days!

Kermit is all confused because she’s used to her automatic feeder dispensing biscuits shortly after I finish work, but daylight savings means it’s now an hour later.

This is probably the tidiest my desk will ever be, so here’s my setup in my brand new office!

Swapped the desk top from MDF to solid live edge dark walnut. Thankfully the standing desk can still handle the extra weight!

Now I need to decorate the rest of the room
