Netanyahu or not, displays of heartlessness and/or hatred undermine the pro-Israel stance…

the biggest threats to Israel's survival are its current regime, along with policies of domination and expansion… that being said, personally i don't believe the idea that Israel's survival is actually threatened, but rather, that some plans likely are, and rightfully so…

and if the various Israeli governments had acted peacefully over the years, Hamas wouldn't even exists…

changes take time, and they have to start somewhere…

this could become an historic moment for the Middle East… simply marking a clear rupture with policies of unconditional support for the Israeli regime could work wonders, not only for the US, both abroad and at home, but also for several regional players, not Palestine only… it would likely influence other countries and the EU to do the same, and could completely change the dynamics of the whole region…

i don't know about the other countries, but apparently Canada didn't even miss a payment to UNRWA despite the pause…

that the funding is resuming pretty much « states the obvious fact »… at the very least, it definitely sends a clear message to the Israeli regime… with hopefully more to follow…

il l'a dit encore récemment… mais depuis quelques semaines, notamment dans le contexte d'une tournée d'émissions d'information, il a aussi répété les déclarations relativement au financement des opérations à Gaza, et son intention de convaincre ses collègues d'y mettre un terme semble bien sincère…

il faut bien que le changement commence à quelque part…

some US senators have already pointed out the absurdity of it, and with the public opinion increasingly pressuring elected officials, likely more of them will speak out…

possibly this is part of a gradual change of narrative, in response to what seems to be deafness and stubbornness on the part of the Israeli regime…

somewhere in there is an opportunity for the US to address historical mistakes, and somewhat redeem themselves in the eyes of the international community…

moreover, the world is « sliding to the right » because it's the natural response to unbalanced individualism (of the self-centered, community damaging kind)…

even if it were true that everything has a lifespan, that wouldn't exclude that some lives can be cut short, for instance through carelessness…

change : i disagree… for instance, change can happen when its value and/or necessity is recognized… albeit this recognition is likely easier as issues hit the individual more directly, but it's not necessarily a requirement… some changes just plainly make sense…
