Donation #104 today, completing gallon #13. It's not for everyone. But if you feel okay about it, well, it does some good. And I think it vitalizes the donor! (I use my local blood bank, not Red Cross, but it amounts to the same thing.) www.redcrossblood.org

You don't play the piano and you don't know anyone who does. What you do have is money. Lots of it. You are either a doctor or a lawyer by profession. The piano is likely placed in a prominent location in your expansive house, such as tucked under the stairs, where the sound can be muffled, or next to a bay window, where it can echo weirdly off the glass. The lid of your grand piano is always closed. There are photographs of you and your wife and kids arranged tastefully on the top and a soft accent lamp on the left hand side of the music desk which absolutely will not illuminate any part of the music adequately.
Date a Live keeps the top spot this week over at AC. A couple other things I noticed are that Spice and Wolf broke into the top 5; a first for the season after premiering as high as #6 in week 1. Also, Black Butler is able to get into the top 10 this week. Finally, the premiere of MHA didn’t really shake things up that much as it landed at #13 on the chart with its debut episode.
Past few years is the first time I’ve seen FOSS devs picking up VScode to use it at all
VSC was released in 2015, it became #13 most used code editor in 2016 and #1 in 2017. That’s a bit more than a few years IMHO.
Never known anyone to use MSDN as a definitive resource anything
MSDN was the main source of info for web development as it had the most comprehensive knowledge library for HTML, CSS and JS. It still has great C/C++ docs.
I won’t even go into the mess that MS’s activities had on the open web in general.
SVG is based on MS proposals. Microsoft was instrumental in development of CSS and IE3 was the very first browser to feature CSS support. The second ECMAScript implementation called JScript also came from Microsoft (the first one called JavaScript came from Netscape, which pushed ECMAScript standard). Microsoft has invented loads of tech like XMLHttpRequest, etc. One must be totally ignorant to think that Microsoft did not invest heavily into web standards.
And then you conveniently forgetting about tools like TS, RX, etc which are used worldwide for decades. Microsoft was also instrumental in bringing the very first open computer architecture (together with IBM) - PC. Your whole IT experience is enabled by Microsoft.
We’re looking for people interested in presenting two of the remaining chapters in our book club: #13 on Build automation with targets (ideally in calendar week 17 or 18; at 4:00-5:30 PM CEST) #15 on CI/CD pipelines (ideally in calendar week 20 or 21; at 4:00-5:30 PM CEST)
Depending on the situation, up to #13 for me. A caveat to that might be whether or not the creator has appropriately priced their product so as to justly compensate themselves without charging consumers excessively. While I had it in my Steam library already, Factorio deserves to be pirated for breaking with the standard practice of not raising game prices with inflation. Same with Sega’s anti-consumer move to remove the Sonic ROMs from the Sega Genesis collection to boost sales of Sonic Origins.
:alert_red: WEEKLY ART CONTEST 2024 ~ WEEK #13 :alert_red:
:fire_animated: BEANS ON POAST MERCH DESIGNS :fire_animated:
'Beans on poast logo?' I asked, and @graf replied 'Art contest.'
Show us what beans on poast means to you, and create the merch you want to see in the world.
we only had 4 minutes to change from the previous regio to this one, and I really expected us to not make it; I usually see this RE on track 3 (IIRC) which is quite far from our track 4a; Fortunately, this time it was on 6b, and in Hof, 6 and 4 are the same platform!
Book Review #13 for 2024: Arthur Gould Lee's Open Cockpit.
I listened to Gould's No Parachute last year and was drawn into the story he told, via letters to his wife, about air combat in WW1. Open Cockpit is similar but a bit broader and philosophical. Still a good read ☕☕☕☕
Most welding glass will not be #14 or #13. If it’s meant for stick welding, it’ll be [Edit to add, #7 was still common when I was welding stick, but is not recommended even for that, it was old-timers who were used to 6011 rods] #9 or #10 at the darkest, far too light. If for MIG it will be darker, #11-13; I set my shield to #11. TIG glass will be the darkest, and ideal.
Oxyacetylene cutting masks will be between a #4 and #6. Don’t watch the eclipse with those. Plenty of people will though.
Sunglasses, for reference, are typically going to be between a #1 and #3 shade. Definitely don’t stare at the sun through those
