Ah, our friend we were meeting at the pub tonight has cancelled. I put dinner in the slow cooker for when we got back, oh well, at least dinner is already done. We’ve decided that as it’s a nice evening we’ll stay home and light the fire pit. I’ll have a couple of 0% ciders

Obviously my big stressor right now is not knowing whether to go back to my PhD and, if not, what to do with my life. We could manage with me not having an income for a couple of months, but not much longer, I have to do something. I’m trying not to fret about this, I have opened myself to opportunities, I’m sure it will all work itself out in time
@purplepadma that sounds good, and arguably longer if needed. My view on this is that if you talk to the right people and have space, you will make the best decision you can. There isn't a right or wrong answer. If I can help at all as a relative stranger, do let me know, DM any time.
I’m reading a book called Unstressable. Looks like there’s going to be a fair bit of CBT-ish stuff in there about how we choose to respond to stress, but right now it’s got me thinking about the amount of stress I allow into my life. Without a doubt, Mastodon is a safer space than Twitter, and I am exposed to much less conflict and antagonism here… but I still think I could curate my Masto feed better, maybe mute some hashtags… there a fine balance between being informed about world events and becoming overwhelmed by them
@purplepadma I have to do the same thing. I feel like I’m always one article away from being in a bad mood. I’m not on Masto for political posts, all the others have plenty.
@steamedcarrot I feel like it’s important to be informed about the world but I get so overwhelmed from the diet of wars, elections, transphobia, cruel government agencies, climate change, etc

@purplepadma in my immediate post-student days when I had a tiny living room and no dining table, my friend was shocked when I sat on the floor to eat my dinner rather than move a cat. It was such a regular occurrence for me that I hadn't even noticed I'd done it 😆

I guess I was just curious as to how common it is for people to know that they are talking to someone who has killed someone else because ime you would mostly never guess. One of the happiest people I have met in recent years killed his wife

Morning. I am sleeping so very badly at the moment. I probably got about six hours in total, but so broken, with long wakeful periods. Feeling jaded, where is the emoji for that?
