To make today's travels perfect, I now had to use my full older educated white person in semiformal clothing privilege to talk to the train's service personnel, who aggressively misinformed a young person* about the validity of their ticket.

This included showing service person their own terms of service and asking their name, while they continued to tell yell at the passenger.

Can I now hide somewhere? That was sort of like the last drop making all overflow.

On the way to a doctor's appointment. You can wish me luck for a non-transverse lie of the baby, because we're getting closer to the point when that's going to yield more appointments and trying to turn it... which is just annoying.

Me: yes

Trainer: why?

Me: because I'm their parent

Trainer: are you their mother or what?

Me: what does it matter? I'm their parent

Trainer: um. I've never seen that, but I suppose it's okay?

I sure hope it's okay to be a parent.

Hah, just realized that at K2's language acquisition stage they'd certainly fail the original shibboleth test (can't make the initial sound), but they miiiight pass the Scheveningen variant - sometimes they make a sound very similar to that initial one when there's a "sh" sound in the middle of a word.

Language and sound acquisition is so wild 💙
