Genuary 8: Chaotic System

My take on the double Pendulum.
The math on Wikipedia gave me a headache, so I solved it with coil forces: the balls are connected with an invisible coil and one of the balls is connected to the upper middle with another coil.

The varying colors have varying coil constants. It takes a while for them to go out of phase but then they do it enthusiastically...

2 blue dots start moving under the forces of gravity and 2 coils connecting them and a fixed point. They start getting a rainbow tail that starts to move more and more diversely until it dissolves into complete chaos.

I knew that "was that baby planned or an accident?" is a question you get asked a lot if you have more than two kids*, but it's still rude and actually hurts a lot if there was a miscarriage before the baby.

Just leave it, folks.

*or one kid but you're old, or young, or two kids who are close or far apart in age, or whatever. It's always rude.

@vicgrinberg guter Umgang mit "in den Sand setzen" ist so wichtig, gerade wenn man Vorbild ist!

Ich denke immer noch an den Matheprof, der einmal mit "mir ist gerade eben aufgefallen, dass der Beweis, den ich bringen wollte, totaler Quatsch ist. Naja. Wir รผberlegen uns was." in die Vorlesung reinkam.

@Zahlenzauberin eigentlich ist das eine total gute Idee: in mittlerem Alter noch mal eine Auszeit. Vielleicht danach in den Beruf zurรผckkehren, vielleicht auch was ganz anderes machen; raus aus dem gemรผtlich eingerichteten, vielleicht auch festgefahrenen Leben. Wรผrde ich sofort machen.

Starts with a promisingly astute observation: โ€œIt would be so tedious for you, wouldnโ€™t it, to have your research interrupted every so often by cultists wanting to worship the thing you were studying? In my department, now, we donโ€™t have such problems.โ€ โ€œGood heavens, Harrietโ€”you study money! All sorts of people worship that.โ€

(In STEM, we get crackpots, but our cultists are usually violently denying our findings instead of worshipping them.)
