Last I knew, the City of Toronto directed us that cardboard ice cream tubs somehow went into our green bins (i.e. organic waste).

Those now go in garbage.

Meanwhile, clean paper microwave popcorn bags, which we've been putting in recycling, are now going in the green bin.

I have a working theory that people who make these decisions are high at all times on the job and are just fucking around with us to see what changes we'll notice and adhere to.

Today’s contention with recording larger waveforms on vocal tracks:

  • Try Garage Band on the Mac instead? It’s too old to run Garage Band. Or Audacity.

  • Could Garage Band run on Windows? Not without some emulators I don’t want to bother with.

  • Is my computer the problem causing the small waveforms? Recorded on it and immediately plugged the interface into another laptop running Audacity and… for some inexplicable reason, it’s not recording anything at all.

… so it’s all going swimmingly.

Currently trying to install a trial of Adobe Audition to see if that’s any more successful at recording.

Kinda hoping it doesn’t, because as a stand-alone program, with taxes, a subscription to it costs about $32 CDN a month.

I mean… maybe if I actually start making some money doing voice over work, I’d consider that, but even so, ouch.

Also: No idea what this image on the Audition installation page is supposed to be, but it’s putting impure thoughts in my head.

Sure didn’t. But understandably you missed my deleting it.

In ancient times,
hundreds of years before the dawn of history,
lived an ancient race of people.

The druids.

No one knows who they were
or what they were doing.

But their legacy remains,
hewn into the living rock

of Stonehenge.

… can’t stop thinking about this scene recently.

I don’t think I’m smart enough to understand why people struggle to use Mastodon

reay,
@reay@mastodon.social avatar

@fuzzyduck @LeaBug I did find it a bit confusing to set up — not just signing up and being in the middle of everything fast like with Twitter and FB — but once I decided on an instance to sign on with, it’s been straight-forward, though time consuming:

Look on your Local feed (people on your same instance), follow people you’re interested in reading more from, see who they follow to expand your feed further…

1/2

reay,
@reay@mastodon.social avatar

@fuzzyduck @LeaBug Also: interact.

Like the old saying with snail mail goes, you need to write letters to get letters.

It’s way easier to bring others into your orbit when you post and engage.

I’ve found that lends itself to more organic connections, as well. Twitter seemed more arm’s reach in a way, whereas here I’ve probably interacted at some point with the vast bulk of people I follow.

Hope you get more more comfortable soon.

@jhonygutierrez @fuzzyduck It was borderline too much for me, and I was actively seeking an alternative to Twitter and FB.

I WANTED to be here and still found it a hard adjustment to make.

Please Reblog to get this to those who can use it.... Teens and young adults ages 13 to 26 living anywhere in the U.S. can access the entire collection of e-books and audiobooks from the Seattle Public Library. "We believe in your right to read what you want, discover yourself and form your own opinions." Fill out the form to get a Books Unbanned card.

@WillRobinson I kind of like that people who ban books are so wilfully ignorant and blinded by their own self-importance that they don’t grasp that doing so literally has the exact opposite effect of what they’re trying to achieve.

Hey, you know what’s not easy? Trying to get a clean take of voice over ads while they’re building a house across the street.

Record in a closet packed with clothes? Outside wall, Holmes. You can still hear the hammering.

Go to the basement and wrap yourself in cushions and a blanket?

It’s actually louder there, because of the side door.

And I could just wait until they’re done for the day, but by that point my wife and daughter will be back, being all social and talking, and stuff.

Gah.

i have released a new EP of songs written on modular and then finished in ableton. all three have vocals and are on the darker / moodier side of electronic.

i hope you give it a listen and i hope you enjoy it.

get it / stream it here: https://fanlink.to/rmrboof

@jjbbllkk Good stuff. I particularly liked the first and third tracks.

For what it’s worth, the original fanlink.to playback didn’t work for me, but the Apple Music link within that page did. 🤷‍♂️

@edequalsawesome Thanks for the link. I’m a fan of his and hadn’t known about any of this (though of course, that was the idea).

Great to hear he got the help he needed. Looking forward to him taking care of himself in the future, and to seeing what new creative doors it may open to him, should he decide to continue creating.

What type of morally bankrupt human claims that an interview that occurred publicly is a deepfake?

@funnymonkey Unfortunately I suspect this will be how things go for a while.

“Oh, our candidate/CEO/rep said something totally asinine or offensive? Uh… uh… it was a deepfake! Yeah!”
