I don't want to brag, but guess who has Covid again.

I THINK I know where this chunk of Triptych by Karin Slaughter is going with this seeming huge detour from the main storyline.
Hoping I’m wrong, because if I’m right, it’s way not my thing.

The remaining crew of Firefly pull of a job scoring them a fortune, and all go their separate ways. Long-married Mal and Inara spend their days travelling on the ship to find the planets with the best sunsets.

And white women in large numbers will still vote GOP👇

reay,
@reay@mastodon.social avatar

@lovelylovely @falcennial Ted Cruz also gave a fellow Senator a fist bump when they both voted against Democratic bids to get veterans better health coverage, as spearheaded by Jon Stewart a few years back. Because Cruz — because it seems the GOP itself — sees it all as a game. They actively block the country from helping its own residents if they can call it one-upping their political opponents.

It’s gross.

Still weird to me when I zoom into a GPS map to make out street and business names better that everything scales up except the text.

And the colour scheme?
Orange business names on beige building shapes?
Contrast works, people!

Made it a bit over a week cutting way down on caffeine until getting this cold and needing caffeine just to stay awake and mobile at work.

I totally get that online services need to sell ads and subscriptions to make money. No problem with that business model.

But on the flipside, it’s particularly irritating when the ads are by the same service you’re currently using, entirely to disrupt your experience, doing a song and dance about how, ‘Hey, if you want to avoid ads for ourself like this, just subscribe!’

Never not funny to see a guy who’s clearly of the opinion he’s VERY cool walking — nay, strutting — as he passes by.

Tossing this out again in case it just got buried amid your timeline: I’m considering jumping to another instance.

Is there any way to take follows and posts (and general history) with me? Or is it basically starting from scratch?

Preeeeetty sure it was a peregrine I saw buzzing around and riling nesting birds. Small raptor, mostly white with a bit of brown on the underside. Came within 20 feet overhead. Gorgeous.

And how’s your day going?

Damn you, Toronto Raptors, for having me need to be more verbose when typing in search criteria for literal birds of prey in Toronto.

Climbing the step ladder, I poked my head over the gutter and mama Robin gave me a nasty stare before flying off in a fury of flapping wings yielding a big surprise. The gutter cleaning project is tabled for now.

@bBuck @otterlove We have mourning doves that have been nesting on a pillar of our front porch for the last few years running. There’s nothing like peering up to meet the indignant, beady-eyed stare of a nesting mom who is clearly trying to convey, “Do you MIND?”

"The Republican discourse around the Arizona charges consists of whining that Dems are engaging in lawfare. But if MAGA had an ounce of self-awareness, they'd recall that Trump filed a staggering 63 cases in an attempt to overturn the election results."

@aaron.rupar @lisamelton It’s amazing how much of politics — but AHEM some parties in particular — is them working illusory stagecraft: I’m going to distract you over HERE to draw your attention away from what I’m doing over THERE.

What’s sad is how many just accept what they see and don’t stop to question it, so the trick works again and again.

I’m reading Triptych, the first Will Trent book, by Karin Slaughter.

Very well written to start, but a quarter or so of the way in she starts veering into what I THINK I see setting up a twist. If I’m right, it’s a hell of a swing but needlessly lengthy.
So I’m probably wrong.
Either way, curious to see if/how she pulls it off.
