Just another day on the user mailing list 🙃

👉For better or worse, understanding JARs is an unavoidable first step to using Flink if you're running it yourself.

👇 That's why I wrote about it a lot 😁

A short 15km run in the forest with about 600m elevation gain and really beautiful spring weather.

I wasn't quite as fast today because I wanted to try out a new toy: a Hover X1 drone with absolutely foolproof flight modes, such as FollowMe and DollyTrack. A nice little thing that's so light and small that it fits in a trouser pocket and, of course, in my running vest. Setup done in less than a minute, love it!

@running

a short video showing myself running on a trail in the woods, recorded by a drone that followed me automatically. I run on an uphill path that is surrounded by huge trees and partially enclosed by a fence.

@riaschissl @running that’s amazing. So it tracks you, and avoids all the trees etc around?

@riaschissl @running very cool!

Please, don’t force me to log in https://hamatti.org/posts/please-dont-force-me-to-log-in/ <-- 💯 this. I was looking forward to trying out Warp until hitting this wall. Screw that, I'll stick with iTerm or Kitty ¯_(ツ)_/¯ It's a terminal program FFS.

✍️ A bit of a different subject matter for my blog today: subdomain hijacking on GitHub Pages.

💡 If you host your own blog and configured your own DNS, it's worth checking your settings for a wildcard entry to make sure you don't get caught out.

I've had a lot of fun with AI Image Generators recently, and thought it might be useful to share some of my notes on the different strengths and weaknesses of them:

I just signed up for my first 50k in October 🏃🏻‍♂️

🗺️ https://fatmap.com/routeid/3032044/ladybower-50k-ultra

I would love to hear any advice on preparing for this (training, kit, anything!). I do already (usually 40-60k a week), just never that distance yet (furthest 35k).

Paging @recollir, @moelholm, @olavur and any other folk here for lots of input plz :)

📖I've had @EvilDMP's https://diataxis.fr/ website about on my reading list for ages, and I'm so glad I finally got around to reading it.

⭐This stuff is pure gold! ⭐

The page on writing tutorials articulates the approach to take perfectly.

Told my aunt about the free Merlin bird ID app that correctly identifies birds by their song. She wants it, googles it, then asks why it demands a credit card payment upfront.

We send her the direct link and then say to search the App Store only (plus skip all the deceiving sponsored apps that show up first in the results).

Enshittification is everywhere.

@mathowie That does suck. I too just discovered Merlin, and omg it's amazing!
