FYI if you're buying the away kit: every piece is different

Just thought I’d share for those not aware and have the option to buy online and in-person. The black “stripes” aren’t copy and pasted on every single kit, the printing method used makes each kit’s stripes slightly different. It’s only slightly different, but every kit is unique. So if you have the option - maybe buy...

@I_am_the_grass But all uniformly vomitously awful. I am desperately hoping that sales of this nightmare pukefest are so bad that Adidas never does anything remotely similar ever again

TFW you realise that you and a character in a book are destined to be BFFs, literary soulmates. The book, aptly enough is "First Impressions" 😆

In the market for a dedicated e-ink reader. Do any of them handle PDF rendering decently, or is that still a tablet thing? Is the Kobo Libre 2 any good?

(I have a Kindle and want to replace it with a non-Kindle for secret reasons, so please don’t suggest them to me. Thanks!)

ronsboy67,
@ronsboy67@mas.to avatar

@tailsy For PSF on e-ink, the basic rule is, the bigger the better. I've been a Kobo fan for 5 years, and have gone from 6 to 6.8 to 7 to 8-inch. The 8-inch is the best of them, imo. I have a Libra H20 (gen 1) and it's ok fpr PDF, but the 8-inch is much better. Also, there are better reading apps to use on Kobo readers for PDF. I use KOReader on my Sage, it works very well.

@poorlydrawnarsenal @Astrealix this is an example of how useful and important hyphens are - there's a world of difference between "Reiss resigning" and "Reiss re-signing" 😁

@courts @bookstodon Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars trilogy, and then perhaps his Aurora, in which he explicitly repudiates and rejects the whole point of his earlier trilogy. 😊

@jayalane @yerald @courts @bookstodon I can understand why multigenerational spaceship stories might not grab you, but imo Aurora's worth it for what might be called the punchline of the story. It does not go where you might expect

@ryanpendell @bookstodon This was one of the highlight's Umberto Eco's insufferable "Mouse Or Rat" for me - an analysis of how some Italians may think they're reading Dante as Dante intended, when translations may be more 'faithful' because of being into current languages.

@I_am_the_grass If can get PAID 30-50M to get rid of their trash, win-win and truly party (sic) time, imo

ronsboy67,
@ronsboy67@mas.to avatar

@Figaro2x A bit too kind, possibly. The way the judicial system dehumanises and minimises sexual violence against women, coupled with the deep institutional misogyny of the Met means that when three different women take all that on to make the same accusations against someone, it's a near certainty they're telling the truth. And any man who does that to women deserves to be called MUCH worse than "trash"

ronsboy67,
@ronsboy67@mas.to avatar

@gunnersaurus @I_am_the_grass I wouldn't be surprised if Arsenal always expected to end up having to pay in that sort of structure. Obviously, they'd have preferred not to, hence holding out (pun unintentional! 😁) for smaller, longer instalments, but I suspect KSE went into this deal ready for the worst case scenario

@JohnBarentine The island's name is the primary reason we went there for a holiday last year. Sadly, those glowing skies were indeed very dark every night - with clouds. 😞 Seeing kiwi in the wild during the day on Ulva/Te Wharawhara was some compensation, at least
