RATM earned a permanent place in my heart after this. It was just so cool.

During the RNC protests of 2008 people were protesting the unjust Iraq War and the people who had gotten us into the mess (not enough condemnation for the lapdog Democrats who went along with it, either, but I digress)

Anyway, RATM was supposed to perform.

They wouldn't give them a permit to perform.

So they did it a capella. Over a megaphone.

I am enjoying the hell out of Annalee Newitz's new novel The Terraformers.

The literal world building is incredible (with nods to Kim Stanley Robinson), and they made me care more about a moose's autonomy than I ever thought I would
