A DDOS against the Internet Archive has commenced again, timed for maximum pain for the California staff to deal with. (I don't sleep, but I also can't do anything on the infrastructure here.)

So, we're down until people wake up to deal with the constant DOOS against us because... reasons

@textfiles who the hell hates internet archives.. that website is so useful, literally a treasure trove of knowledge... They are doing great job for humanity... Oh! I see big tech and big publishers.

@thor yeah they do all the time.. that is the weakest point of a raspberry pi.. mine gets corrupt every few months when there is too much power outages in my 3rd world country... But of course Raspberry Pi 4 and CM4 has USB3 ports and they can do USB boot hence they you can use faster USB drives and SSDs.. This one looks like a Raspberry Pi 1 so no option other than SD card.

Initially I used to use BASIC originally Qbasic and later FreeBasic and as such for fast prototyping programs.. But then I abandoned it in favor Common LISP but I also abandoned that in favor of Python because it had shit tons of more libraries and a larger scope.. These days I kinda use Python and GDScript on Godot to experiment stuff up.. GDscript is kinda Python like though its not the same thing..

P.S of course I can program in C language and C++ and even Assembly and all the web languages like HTML5 and Javascript... I did also learned Java in university though I have mostly forgotten it. The biggest pain in using C and C++ is that there is no garbage collector by default.. If you forget to destroy a malloc or a class or something.. say hello to memory leaks... But C and C++ has some powerful features like the macros which usually don't exist in most other languages.

Ones you understand the basic concepts all programming languages work the same way.. You just had to remember the syntax.

I don't force anyone in my home to use Linux though me and my brother use Linux.. I haven't even forced my brother to use Linux infect he was the one to introduce me to Linux in the first place back in 1997 when I was a kid and he was in university and bought a book about Linux at which back was the CD of Slackware Linux. Though me started using Linux as my main OS that happened in 2013 or something when the Windows 8 came.. I didn't liked it a bit.

safiuddinkhan,
@safiuddinkhan@toot.io avatar

Interestingly Slackware still follows the same fucking system of installation it used to back then... lol.. back then you have to make floppy of all those packages with alphabetic codes then rawrite the boot disk on the floppy and install them one by one. the boot loader back then which i used for the first time was LILO. There was also the bootloader lodlin which allowed a person to boot Linux from DOS and hence technically Windows 9x as well..

If you ask me don't use RHEL at all.. Don't encourage the paywall source code thing they are trying to to do... There are thousands of other distros use them instead.. use any clone of RHEL.

Someone have a quick way for broken laptop charging cable?
This one striped and looking like L-letter i mean...
yesterday i saw raw metal going out of that and lap couldnt charge so now im stuck on phone...

safiuddinkhan,
@safiuddinkhan@toot.io avatar

@hacknorris @Linux_in_a_Bit if its a dell laptop than the charging port is usually separate from the motherboard and a temporary solution can be made without soldiering.. modern dell laptops have 3 pin charging ports.. the third pin is for detecting voltage or something.

safiuddinkhan,
@safiuddinkhan@toot.io avatar

@hacknorris @Linux_in_a_Bit you have to tell what is the model of your laptop i can only help then because there is no standard in laptops unlike the desktop PCs.

safiuddinkhan,
@safiuddinkhan@toot.io avatar

@hacknorris @Linux_in_a_Bit it has happened to before how i destroyed my laptop... so it is very important to know what model it is. they even use different chargers and different pins... like the dell laptop which i had used 3 wires and i had no clue at first that it use 3 wires and what is the purpose of the 3rd wire.. i found the hard way after i literally destroyed the charging port of my laptop.. lol

safiuddinkhan,
@safiuddinkhan@toot.io avatar

@hacknorris @Linux_in_a_Bit yes they use different chargers as well.. i have seen what is the issue.. it can be fixed.. but beware first do research about your laptop on the internet that what type of charger it uses and then fix it..

safiuddinkhan,
@safiuddinkhan@toot.io avatar

@hacknorris @Linux_in_a_Bit broken laptop cables is one of the most common issue in laptops. its the most stressful part of the laptop after the hinges.
