Arguing that your kids should be exempted from lessons on topics based on your beliefs is a ridiculous thing to insist.

If your children are so impressionable that simply teaching them a different perspective is enough to break them, you have already failed as a parent. The ability to reason and decide for themselves is a hallmark of good education and parenting.

Point of order. Donald Trump did not fly on an airline today. He flew private. That means his flight was operated as general aviation. General aviators are not permitted to fly into National. Therefore, Trump was given special treatment not available to any other defendant.

Reviewing some newly written Laravel code.

I made it clear to our dev team: "We're picking Laravel because, despite its known pitfalls, we know each other, and we trust our team to apply proper design principles, and the devs want to go with it. We'll certainly use it consciously"

That completely disappeared within 1 week of dev work: all the anti-patterns present in the Laravel docs appeared immediately.

It's so bad that it looks like going back to my high school code.

Don’t like that so many programming tutorials are videos instead of text? If more people paid for text content then people who want to make some money from what they know wouldn’t go make videos on a platform that offers a chance to get paid. Sincerely, an author with lifetime earnings of US$70k from writing programming books.

@thoughtfuldragon SCOTUS ordered Alabama to draw a map that’s more favorable to Blacks. They drew a new map that isn’t. This defies the order. If they win this battle, can’t you just see blue states wising up and declaring the SCOTUS opinions on guns, abortion and more to be invalid and void in their states?

Is there some unwritten compact amongst home maintenance companies (handyman, plumbers, electricians, etc.) to not provide itemized estimates, but just a top line number?

I ask for 3 things, I want them estimated separately, so I can pick and choose. I say this over and over. Why is it so hard?

@Crell many of them charge a higher fee for the first, say, 45 minutes and then lower amounts for subsequent time periods. It accounts for their travel time to your site. So they literally can’t estimate them separately.
