Here's a blog I did about generations--specifically, my own, Gen-X, and how remarkably little we have contributed to history. Don't expect that to change. The Boomers insisted we were unfit for ownership of the world, and the Millennials and Gen-Z want to seize it as quickly as possible. They're welcome to it. We X'ers will be X'ed from history, and we probably deserve to be. A bit cynical, but hey, that's us.

Today on the blog. Historic Photo: barricades in the streets of Bordeaux, France, May 1968. The French strikes of that year were hugely significant, and called back numerous episodes of popular uprisings where citizens of France feel compelled to pile furniture into the streets. The 1968 events, aimed at protesting DeGaulle's dictatorship, were the basis of one story in Wes Anderson's 2021 film "The French Dispatch."

@timbray That article conveniently doesn't mention that Nostr is heavily intertwined with Truth Social and a haven for Trumpnuts, rightwing deplorables and crypto scammers.

@liaizon @timbray Alex Gleason, the creator of Nostr, evidently created the source used by Truth Social (a Mastodon clone). He has a history of transphobia. Some creeps with Pepe avatars have been celebrating Nostr as a bridge that will integrate TS with the fediverse. I don't understand all the technical stuff, but when Pepes like someone, it generally can't be a good thing.

This North Augusta, SC coffee company that markets "non-woke" coffee kind of tipped their hand a bit with the Nazi symbolism on their logo.

@sethcotlar What is "non-woke" coffee? Are we supposed to insult Black people or deadname trans people while we drink it? Or is it proudly made with indigenous plantation labor? Can you drink it while watching a Disney movie, or will it magically heat up in your mouth and burn you to punish you for supporting them?

I have generally always been a booster of space exploration, so it takes a lot for me to cheer actively at a major space failure. But fuck that guy, I'm glad his rocket blew up and I hope his dumb space company goes bankrupt. He is not the kind of human being we want to bring us into space.
