By blowing through the budget they showed that choosing to eat healthy food is not an option on minimum wage. Surviving is too low a bar to get the point across.
While race certainly played a part with the reaction to Kaepernick, that doesn’t mean this guy got a free pass for being white. Conservatives would have defended someone of any race who spouted misogynist word vomit.
Kicker for the US football team Chiefs based in Kansas City gave a commencement speech where he laid out a bunch of misogynistic and homophobic bullshit including the equivalent of “women belong in the kitchen” and is getting defended by conservatives as speaking to family values or whatever they call that bullshit now.
Sounds like you know about the guy on the right already, but for anyone else that might not know he was simply kneeling to bring attention to racism and was vilified by those same conservatives.
Family values, common sense, freedom caucus, and any other thing that sounds like it should be positive but is run by conservatives is the opposite of whatever the name is.
It is possible that he could be convicted in at least one case.
If he is convicted, it is guaranteed that he will never spend a day in jail because he is wealthy enough to have the appeals process drag out his incarceration indefinitely.
If he is convicted it is possible that the Republicans will distance themselves from him, but that would depend on how invested his base is on whether his trials are actually shams if a jury votes to convict.
Decent people taking the high road is why the conservatives keep a stranglehold on power in the US.
It isn’t like conservatives are staying silent about the same topic, why give them more space to fill the public consciousness with lies while waiting for something that is likely to be appealed anyway? Are they going to wait for the appeals to be heard before saying anything?
What rules would be violated by focusing on Trump being on trial?
Why aren’t those rules being enforced when conservatives ramble on endlessly about the trial being a sham?
Staying silent is giving them more room to lie, because they are already lying constantly about the court proceedings. Saying something isn’t going to lead to them more lying.
They need to step up the game on pointing out he is on trial right now and then go all in if he is convicted. If they have been saying it already, then they need to figure out how to say it in a way that gets on the news.
a generation of young Republican staff members appears to be developing terminal white nationalist brain. And they will staff the next Republican administration.
Public libraries are supposed to be places for communities to gather and learn, with an important focus on being a place for kids to gain access to information. But thanks to a moral panic in the GOP about “indoctrination” in libraries, it seems that at least one library has decided to shut its door to children....
I am a huge detractor of AI because of it being promoted as overblown nonsense. But the core idea of automating creative processes isn’t even new.
Many games use procedural generation to create worlds. Many use similar techniques for the movement of things in the game, physics engines to do ragdoll animations, and a bunch of other stuff that was created manually in the past. While the public is fine with all of those, they push back on the ‘creative’ roles that are just easier to recognize while missing out on the very creative processes that were used for all of those things.
Hopefully the industry will settle on AI replacing the tedious parts while the skilled people handle the edge cases and are appropriately reimbursed for their work. Even AI generated maps tend to benefit from a lot of hands on refinement or even custom content sprinkled in the maps for points of interest. A lot of voice work could be custom generated for basic stuff like narration with the performers focusing on the more emotional parts, but being reimbursed as if they had recorded the custom content. The companies would still benefit by being able to make changes to the narration type stuff on the fly and the voice actor would get what they would have gotten from doing the whole script. The same approach could be used for the writers.
The ethical issues primarily come from skipping the part where AI is used for too much, and the people whose work was used to train the AI aren’t compensated for their work. That stuff does need to be sorted out and enforced.
The stories also showed that theaws were probably as good as could be done, since the exceptions were edge cases that required some creative interpretations of “protect” and “don’t harm”.
The stories where the laws were given exlusions so the robots could do things also reinforced the idea that the laws were pretty darn good even if they weren’t foolproof. I think there was one with mining robots that had some flexibility on protecting themselves because mining is dangerous.
Also the human shaped automatons having human sounding marching chants, the samples that are bottled up like a 6 pack of cola…
I guess the “inspired by star wars” might be coincidence, although I hight have missed an in game reference to the star wars setting still being around in universe.

Biden’s biggest supporters are cable news addicted boomers completely disengaged from reality.
Trump’s biggest supporters are MAGA idiots who only watch stuff like Fox News, Newsmax, and other Russian disinformation outlets. At least the Biden supporters are getting a filtered version of reality and not complete fiction.
